    Adult Industry Attorneys - $$$$$$$

Shit, attorneys are expensive huh? I've never had to hire one but recently I contacted 3 adult industry attorneys. I have a company that wants to license some of my pictures and print them on one of their products. I contacted 3 adult industry attorneys and asked how much they would charge to review a model release just to make sure that I'd be covered for this kind of license application. One of them wanted $1000+ for the service - the other two never got back to me.

The next time somebody complains about my fees being high, I'm going to ask them if they've tried to hire an attorney lately

      I've only used two.
One is $400+/hr, but a lower rate if his underling.....errr, associate can do the work.

Another was $250/hr IF you paid a $3500/yr retainer.

So yeah, not cheap. It's a pretty micro specialty, so they're not making it on volume ya know?

Dean, I had the same issue. I wanted to find out about modeling release form. I even had a good one design it basicly just overlook by someone who knows their shit. His quote was $2200 USD just too look and if they needed to change it, $350 per hour.
Little did I know the subject has major legal holes and it would have set it back $10k or more.

250$/hr seems to be the norm but get involved in any court case with the feds and you are paying 100K retainer.

I've been calling attorneys all day long. Most of them want a minimum of $300.00 for an initial consultation on a civil case I intend to file. Then they are $350 to $500 per hour after that.

Now I have to weight the costs of the potential law suit with my loss which is over 10k.

I informed one of the attorneys that I use 3 other attorneys in different cities and their rates are all lower than what I am finding in the city I am seeking representation in. They told me that there is a "cap" that varies from state to state. Since their state allows a higher cap, they bill higher.

I've had both Chad Belville and J.D. Obenberger review and/or draw up legal docs for me in the past. I'd hit them up and see what they can do.

Chad is currently at the forum but I think J.D. flew home today and should be available Monday.

What do you call a thousand lawyers chained together at the bottom of the ocean?

                A good start.

Ah never mind, said it before to many times. Majority of legal matters we run into do not need to be handled by an "adult" attorney.

You're right, but I think model releases fall under that purview.

If not "adult" then at least an entertainment lawyer, and they're not cheap either.

You also have to weigh up your chances of winning and getting the money. The loser is often left with the legal bills.

I'm not even remotely worried about losing.
