    Ever read a post on GFY thats stuck with you for the wrong reasons?

    Some time ago (8 / 10 years) I read this really strange post from some nic with about 200 posts that I didn't recognise.

    He basically said something like 'What do you think its like for people after you die? Is like just going on vacation but you never come back, and people give all your stuff away?'

    It Didn't seem like a cry for attention, or a real threat that he intended to commit suicide... It just seemed really pathetic and sad... He seemed more concerned on the effect it would cause for others as opposed to himself...

    Still haunts me today. I wonder if the guy did kill himself or not?

      Often wondered that. Not that I am going to off myself, but I do a little dance every morning that I wake up.

      Maybe he was physically ill?

          I wonder daily if you really eat Poo Burgers or a cry for help.

          There was a guy I knew that killed himself and after the fact if I analyzed his posts guess ya could pick up little signs, talked to him on email and messenger like 1-2 days before and not a clue, so seems easier to find the clues after the fact or when it's too late.

              Think about it a moment - the guy asks, "What do you think its like for people after you die?" That's a question that can only be accurately answered by...someone who's dead. And unless they have a keyboard in the afterlife, well...

              I generally regard stuff on GFY as largely disposable fiction...I don't generally give it much creedence or after-thought. It's mostly a rag-tag collective of misfits, attention whores, sad sacks and unstable individuals with a multitude of reasons for being here. Notice I said 'mostly' - there's a few good apples, tho.

              Did the guy kill himself? Who knows. Who actually cares? You can't fix the world's problems. Sometimes natural selection just needs to run its course. Sounds crass and apathetic, I know...but life's too short to dwell on such things for long.

                  I read it that he was asking what it was like for the people around you, loved ones family etc, when you die. After all they would be the ones that give all his stuff away.

                  The rest of what you say, I agree with. It is a ragtag bag of misfits and weirdos etc, and it wouldn't be the same (GFY) any other way... Its just that one post seemed eerily strange and unsettling, hence why it stuck with me...

                          And if you saw the clues, then how would you have stopped him?
                          By putting him in a choke hold until the cops came?

                                      Good point.

                                      Without a lot of sleuthing to find out his identity and whereabouts...there's really very little you can do. And as CS says - his wording was somewhat vague and subject to interpretation...not something you could contact his family or authorities with and say for sure he's thinkin' suicide.

                                                  If I planned to kill myself, I’d not post it here. Maybe on my blog for a future date but not here. 99.9% would say “who?.” or “who cares” and the other 00.01% would feel sad. Hell, on my main site forum people posted for weeks about my absence. One person called the police who tracked down my parents. The police showed up at mom’s house to ask if I was missing. She told the cop about being in the hospital and they not only went there, apparently they came to my room to see if I was alive. I’m told they talked to a doctor to get confirmation that it was me and I was very, very sick.

                                                  Once out of the coma and coherent, Mom told this to me. I emailed the person and asked about them calling the police. I’d told her privately that I garaged my ‘66 Mustang on Mustang Street not far from my parents. Police found it, talked to the garage owner who knew my dad, and they tracked them down.

                                                  Part of me was happy friends found me and cared. Part of me felt angry a stranger would call the police to call the parents. Another part was irritated I’d been too sick to call friends.

                                                  My bff knew and posted on my forum, but he felt it wasn’t his right to say anything to anyone.

                                                  If someone wonders about death, it’s natural to think that way. But to casually mention it seems a cry for help. Or attention. Or to cause a discussion talking about a person who supposedly mentioned their death. CS, do you need to talk?!

                                                  I used to remember meltdowns if they were dramatic. I’d remember posts of theft. Now I can’t remember anything but I live with it ;)

Or became a monk and moved to Tibet to live a monastery life forever.

                                                                  Thats the right attitude in my book. Not gonna agree 100% with the exact method but I agree 100% with the sentiment.

                                                                  I think its fine to call it a day, but its a cuntish thing to do if you decide to hang yourself to be discovered by someone
