                                  I was actually thinking that they could have a useful effect as in illuminating the floor in the dark when you step down from an X3.

                                  But if the consensus is that they are uncool, then I shall let my son and his wife enjoy a broken ankle instead

                                          Most cars that are any good have that, they are called puddle lights. It's just the projecting of the logo which is uncool.
