                If you are asked to leave someone's establishment you leave. If you refuse, it's your own fault and you can't pull the racist card.
                The only reason these people don't comply with police orders is that they hope the police will get aggressive and they can claim racism.
                Even if the police is wrong, you still listen and obey their orders, you can always complain or sue them later if you felt you were done wrong. Everyone knows if you don't follow police orders you'll get arrested, so it's a choice.

                                But these people never said that. They've not spoken or given a statement nor have they been identified. They refused to leave as they did nothing wrong. They simply waited for a friend. When arrested, they quietly rose, put their hands behind their back, and left in handcuffs.


                                No words were exchanged, no yelling, no claims of racism. These people were observed and taped. The company issued an apology and the manager placed on leave, I believe. They're probably investigating still.

                                Yes, technically they broke the law by refusing to leave. But they were asked to leave --- why? For waiting for a friend quietly? For not ordering while waiting though no sign said you must order if waiting? Or for being a stereotypical black male hanging out and seemingly up to no good merely by waiting quietly for a friend?

                                Yea, if they left it could have been avoided. But don't two men have the right to quietly wait for a friend before ordering?

                                The manager jumped to conclusions in assuming two black males were up to no good. Perhaps based on previous experiences or perhaps based on prejudice? After all, we all know two brothas or two niggas hanging around a cash business must be planning to rob it and rob the customers, right????!???

                                Obviously this issue is seen differently by people who've experienced discrimination in some form to those who live in a fantasy world and think all is good in the world and racism is imagined.

                                The only word I can think of is Trayvon.

These guys specifically asked to use the restroom. They weren't randomly asked to leave. When they were refused and told they had to buy something, they started causing problems, arguing with staff, and apparently one guy just sat back down in protest (like refusing to leave). Most people would just buy something cheap to use the restroom and not cause a scene. They caused a scene and were asked to leave. And now you're throwing around Trayvon??? Talk about a red herring!

                                                            Pam, drive into NB and go into the hood to any coffee shop restroom and asked to use the restroom. 9 out of 10 times you'll be asked to buy something. This is a busy urban Starbucks that specifically has to the keep the bathroom doors locked because of problems they have with drug use and vagrants.

                                                                    I mentioned in my first post I was disappointed the media hadn’t picked it up. Now I have no complaints! Protests, front-page stories and talk show coverage is prominent.

                                                                    CEO of Starbucks issued a half-assed apology but the damage is done. I’d love to see the numbers at lol Starbucks since this happened.

                                                                    I just saw a video again and I’m amazed at how calmly the men were cuffed and quietly left without a word. They were smart enough to know to remain calm, don’t argue or claim innocence, just go along.

Media shows gang-bangers as black like there are no white gangs. Boston Marathon bombing made people leery of Muslims. Gay child molestors makes people think all gay men like kids. Hell’s Angels makes people think all bikers are murdering thugs. Etc etc etc.

                                                                                            Stereotypes aren’t accurate. Individual people are different whether by color, race, gender, religion, hair color (“all blondes are dumb”) and more.

But society hears “adult webmaster”and links you to illegal activity. Think on that level. THEY brought themselves to the attention of the manager by asking to use the restroom. The manager then noticed they hadn't purchased anything and told them the restroom was for paying customers only. Singled out would have been if the manager walked by 4 tables of empty handed white people sitting there and went up to the black table and asked them to buy something or leave. To me, then you'd have a case.

If you can, great and fuck starbucks or whoever. If you get found out and asked to buy something, don't cite some kind of nonsense like discrimination, you just look more of a cunt than you already were.

Philly is a big city. They could have lots of issues with loitering and people hanging out not buying stuff and not leaving room for paying customers.

A business can rightfully refuse service for whatever reason, at any time. It has been that way forever and most civilized people can handle this.
