This was not an act of Jihad, a Jihadi martyr would be highly unlikely to take his own life unless in a suicide bomb attack. One of the principal conditions, according to the doctrine of Islam, in order to be rewarded with heaven as a Jihadi martyr, is that the killing must be "pure" in the name of Allah.
