Not sure why we have to be afraid of the big bad wolf? They are not going to call the world trade center site the new "Freedom Tower" instead they are going to call it "one world trade center", why because it is more marketable and would be less attacked by terrorists...makes no fucking sense.

It reminds me of my boss on 911 when we wanted to put a poster of the American flag in the window...he said no because someone might want to vandelize the business. I said to myself what a fucking pussy...and still have 0 respect for him.

Every fucking park in my area got rename to some patriotic slogan....FREEDOM PARK, BALD EAGLE FIELD, ....I hated the name Freedom Towers it sound fucking stupid. Reminds me of some trailer trash going over the top with a patriotic theme for his truck.

I totally agree that the name sucked, but they should not have tried the to be so sympothetic in the 1st place, make people forget about it a little, and they change the name out of fear.

Personally I think calling it One World Trade Center is better. It sends a signal that we are rebuilding and giving it the same name.

Yeah I like this name also, I would have prefered the exact same 2 towers in the same place...driving down the west side hwy still seems weird without seeing those buildings. As far as rebuilding it has to be one of the most currupted construction sites on the planet....and no way will they make the 2013 date. I just hope they have a decent memorial or museum in good taste for the people who died.

Yea I remember after it happened driving by on the West Side Highway and feeling a real loss. I remember sitting on my rooftop in Brooklyn and watching the smoke and the two light towers. I always hoped they would rebuild the two towers exactly the way they were. Now it would be lucky if they ever build anything there. A real testament to government stupidity and corruption.

Penn & Teller made a Bullshit (on Showtime) about the new World Trade Center and all the crap that has gone on to rebuild and the conclusion they came up with, to really say fuck you to the terrorist was to rebuild the original two towers and call them the World Trade Center - very good show (of course one idea was to make it all out of pork because those shitheads won't touch pork).

Call it the old name call it the new name I couldn't care less.

and either will the terrorists. they will continue to attack us even if it was called Abu Dahbi towers.

I believe that memorial sites need to be somewhat discreet. Most people want to go about their day without a constant reminder of tragedy. So changing the name was a good first step.

Since the fed is giving money away they should just purchase the site and put a huge park there. Then you don't have to be scared about the tallest building in NY being attacked. Under the new adminastration we are now side stepping the whole ant-terrorism talk to be more Arab friendly...so why not just let them win. Fear = they won.

I do agree that the name should be "world trade center" if a building is built though. I also wonder if in 20 years from now you will see some of the conspericey theories regarding 911 be investigated.
