The average person doesn't care how the country, economy, migrants, EU are doing. They worry about how they are doing. Do they have a job, enough benefits, will their children go to a decent school where they are safe, can they get healthcare,
are they as well off as they once were, etc.
Most Americans are poorer because successive governments have been more worried about the few and ignored the many.
