We have quite a few clients using the built-in Windows Mail, which works fine for basic needs. If web, most email setups have an online client or of course something like Gmail.

If you need a little more oomf, I would recommend spending a few dollars and getting the Office Suite. It's dirt cheap for the value it provides, multiple users, multiple devices, multiple very powerful software packages. The Google Suite is like a burger at McDonald's, the Microsoft Office Suite is like a nice steak.
