Want to make $160k a year?

Seems if you want to make six figures you need to work in fast food. In & Out pays their managers $160k a year.

In-N-Out Burger managers make $160k on average - Story | KTTV

In-n-out has a great business model. The tiny menu allows them to make burgers and fries (and not much else) cheaper and better than any of the competition. Everything is incredibly efficient and there's less food waste.

But they're a weird christian company with weird values and culture. You kinda gotta drink the kool-aid if you want to enjoy working there. It's got some serious high-school youth-group style shit going on.

So.. 160k lets say average person spends $10, thats 16,000 customers a year or 307 a day just to pay the managers, and most places work on 1/3 in costs, wages and overheads so to be nice say 1000 people a day needed just to cover the managers wages.

seems legit, I think there might be a bit more to that story not being told ;)

In and Out was my favorite burger when i lived in San Diego. All freshly cooked and the fries tasted great made with Kennabec potatoes.

$160 is not a bad wage. Home depot pays its ASM, assistant store manages around $60,000 a year and store manages average $250,000 dependent on state, tenure and bi-annual bonuses.

In & Out just opened here in our hometown, about three blocks from my house. It's always packed, sitting room only. The drive through is also always packed - from open to close. How many people do you think they serve a day?

I'd bet my left nut the average order is far greater than $10. In n Out is such a pain in the ass to go to that people turn it into "group" affairs by asking friends, family and co-workers if they would like to place an order.

But they're a weird christian company with weird values and culture. You kinda gotta drink the kool-aid if you want to enjoy working there. It's got some serious high-school youth-group style shit going on.
I didn't know they were a Christian-based company. There are none of them where I live so I have only had them a handful of times. It's always interesting to me when people mix their religion with their business.

It is not easy to work with MANY people on a daily basis, so they deserve it for sure.
They opened up a local Taco Bell here in town two years ago. People hate it. The customer service is horrible. One night they ran out of beef. LOL. Taco Bell had no tacos.

Reminds me of the time I went to A&W and they had no root beer.

                                                    No root beer at A&W!?!?

I emailed corporate, they gave me 2 free meal coupons. Ridiculous not to have root beer but very good response.

My one and only trip to an A&W ended up being hysterical. It was one of the old ones (before they merged with KFC). The tables had phones on them you used to call in your order and they would bring it to your table. After bringing us our food a friend wanted some ketchup for his fries. He stood up and went to the counter to ask. The woman standing behind the counter pointed to a phone on the wall and told him to use that phone to request it. Confused, he picked the phone up. Three feet away, that same woman picked up another phone and took his request. She explained that the rule was that all orders or requests had to come through the phone.

She brought him some ketchup to our table and when another friend was about to ask for something, she held up a finger to stop him, walked behind the counter to the phone, then pointed at the phone on our table, telling him to use it instead of talking directly to her.

We all thought we were on some kind of strange episode of punked.

seems legit, I think there might be a bit more to that story not being told ;)
I had a friend who worked at In N Out during college and she said they did on average 2300 burgers a day at their store. That's not counting fries, drinks or shakes. Their revenue is crazy. This is in Santa Barbara/Goleta, combined population of about 120,000.

This became a problem for local places when they wanted to expand into Lake Havasu, Arizona where the minimum wage was already far lower than California. All of the local eateries lost their best workers to In and Out. They wanted a maximum wage for fast food workers.

Didn't work out that way... Now Arizona is only a buck short of California's minimum wage, but that makes it $3 shy of In and Out's minimum wage.
