Maybe you should tell your good friend that he needs to contact Mike now. Keeping someone's money that is not yours, and not saying anything to the person as to why because he is afraid of GFY is not a reason.
I suggest to Michael to get in touch once again with Tim, if Tim wouldn't respond the way he responded to me - then fair enough, then there will be space for my own speculation, but that is something I would not ever want to happen, as I value Tim as a friend.
Believe me, none of us will come to any judgment by rambling here on GFY.
I do apologize if I insulted you Michael or if I insulted anyone else, as this thread was rather totally inappropriate for my, say inappropriate antics yesterday (...), most of all I did a fault that I got involved in this thread at all.

I of course accept your apology, thank you for that, but Tim keeps on making promises and setting deadlines and agreements to me, then doesn't follow through.
Also please remember that this is AFTER I told him to go ahead and KEEP the $1,000 that he had already agreed to return to me out of the $4k we paid him over the design work.
I told him to go ahead and keep it if he would return the $25k that was not his in a timely manner.... That was 4 months ago. I think that essentially paying someone $1,000 in order to return other monies to their rightful owner is MORE than fair on my part.... and his failure to follow through shows a complete LACK of fairness or honor on his part.
Perhaps you have a different world view of honor and fairness and what is stealing and what isn't.... If so, fair enough. I guess that if someone came over to your house, and left money there by mistake, then called you a few days later, you would just keep it and say it wasn't theft, since it was their mistake.
I don't know if this is your view. I can only surmise this from your posts on this thread.

Don't hold your breath homie... 25k is worth getting a lawyer and maybe trying to get their domains or finding out if they have any US or Canadian assets you can get forfeited. You know they're for damn sure not going to show up for a court date.Comment

a) ask him to come up with a public statement - something he will never do, especially after I seriously fucked everything up like this
b) ask him to get in contact with you asap and agree on a solution, and to stand for his word - something I still, at this point, expect him to do.
If this wouldn't happen - as it's not his money (although he didn't "stole" them and actually received them by mistake) and once there are any fake promises / delays against expected terms, then we have a problem, and you can call me an idiot till the end of my days - you have my permission.

Most people would have a hard time returning 25k. Seems kinda obvious what's going on here. This whole "he's busy" isn't a real excuse unless he's in the hospital or some crap, which isn't the case according to what's been said here. Writing a check and putting it in the mailbox takes what? 2 mins? 3 mins?
