They never bothered me because I never surfed with sound on, but I could see the complaint. So I got everyone who had one left to change them out.

If everyone did that then everyone will suffer eventually. Ads makes the GFY economic ecosystem go round. Besides, sigs and avatars add personality to each GFY persona. Just my 2 cents.

Wow, had no idea the sound banners were gone... The "shoulda used quickbuck" banner in early 2004 made me install flashblock, and I've had it ever since.

ffvb is great too, it is close to impossible to find the threads I want to read with the stupid contest threads cluttering everything up...

If you wanna take it a step further you can install user styles for firefox and copy the style for the regular gfy skin and apply it so no matter when they change skins it stays the same.

I missed this, thanks for that Eric, I have removed adblock also, I always hated those damn sounds. Sucks big time when I'm doing late night work and have my sound up loud from earlier that day (gotta rock out hard and loud when nobody is home), and blam accidentally roll over one of those ads and it blares throughout the house and wakes up my daughter sleeping.
