Ruff gets digitally spanked

3 years ago I bought some NXT coin. At the time not worth a fuck. Something happened and my passphrase would no longer work. I fucked around with it, but finally thought this is not enough coin to waste my time with trying to recover. So I forgot about it.

Flash forward to a couple of days ago. I get an email that the NXT online wallet will be closing at the end of December and to clear out any coins. So out of curiosity I decided to check my old account. I have almost 12000 NXT coins in it that are now worth almost 9,000 dollars.

My passphrase still does not work and I cannot get my money. It's like standing on the sidewalk in front of a candy store looking through the window. The candy is there I just can't get it.

Fuck.

Try emailing support since they are closing they will probably try to help you. Maybe send them an email with id or something worth a shot

Did you lose the pass phrase? Did you write it down? I would be scouring every piece of paper to find it. LOL

BTW: can I borrow $9000? I want to buy some Bitcoin with it. :D

I found my old backup thumb drive with over 2 mill doge. sold them and bought some xrp

I think it depends on the wallet he's using. If it's a wallet that is located on a site, then they could. If it is one of these desktop ones, then there probably is no way to help him.

They can't help. The passphrase is encrypted on my browser so they can't do anything about it. I thought at the time it was a wallet fuck up. I still do. I cut and pasted the passphrase to start the wallet, but failed to do a test send to make sure it worked. That was lesson number one about passphrases. I sent the entire amount then discovered the passphrase didn't work. I've tried 40-leven different permutations of the passphrase but no joy. I've got till December 31 to figure it out.

Naw, I've got the passphrase, that's the problem. For some reason it doesn't work.

I will suggest some coins you might want to look at though, Ripple, NEM, ico for BTCx (google "How to join BTCx crowdsale on Medium). These are the only recommendations I'm making here. I'm all in. Merry Xmas.

Thanks for the tips! I thought Bitcoin would go crazier than it has since I bought in a couple weeks ago but next year I expect a wild ride.

What is your browser? What version is your browser? I'm guessing you already went into your browser and got the passphrase and the pass phrase that's saved in your browser and should be working is not working with the wallet right? That's how you know it's a wallet issue. Does your cat tell you they're doing this on purpose? Cuz it seems suspicious they're closing in December with a bunch of wallets that nobody can access?

The wallet uses the browser to encrypt the passphrase. I don't what to think since I copied and pasted it originally, but that was 3 years ago. I don't know how many others got fucked. They claim they are closing it cause they can't make any money from it any more. For me it was an expensive lesson not to use shit wallets, now I use only Ledger and Trezor hardware wallets.

I'm done, I've fucked with this back and forth for days now. I have to let it go and move on. One good thing, I found other wallets from 3 years ago with coin in them. I quit speculating back then and switched over to buying Bitcoin and just forgot about the others. It's like finding money under the couch cushions.

If you cut and pasted it then you probably picked up a space or a carriage return at the end. So try your passphrase but add a space to it.
