Quick GFY! Is this roast to big for this roaster?

Should I cut the fucker in half or something? It sticks about an inch above the top of the roaster. I've never cooked a roast for myself before, but I acquired this little roaster and the first thing I did was head to the grocers and buy a nice roast. Someone halp...

I think it would be okay... you are covering it with foil, right? Throw in some vegetables as well... onions, potatoes, carrots...

it does have a lid for the roaster, that'll cut it right? or do i gotta foil the bitch too?

i got carrots, onions, potatoes, asparagus, beef bullion, and spices all lines up and ready to go.

someone suggested searing the roast in a frying pan first. good idea? the entire roast doesn't need to be covered in water right?

Yeh you should sear it... if you have a cover, that should be fine. It doesn't need to be totally covered, no.

Are you putting asparagus in with it? That sounds kind of weird.

You need some of these bitches!

Stick all your veggies and meat in the bag(in the roaster), add some water, tie it closed and put it in the oven.

Obviously you'd want the "large" size. not the turkey size.

Sear it. High heat, 2 minutes on every side (6)

                  Cook in 1 inch water

Add asparagus at the end, 10 minutes before meat is done.

                  Use a meat thermometer!

Try it sometime. I always put asparagus in my beef stew. Goes good.

Alright, I'm gonna go get this thing started.

No it's not. I cook my roast in a glass dish with a lid. keeps the juice in and makes it tastier

Well, I'm going for it. Really I'd prefer to have a slowcooker, but my old one is toast and I haven't picked up another yet. So I'm venturing into the world of the roaster.

                              This look somewhat correct?

It's riding on top of the carrots for now. It's been bathed down in olive oil and garlic while I seared it. I am preheating the oven now, and getting ready to throw it in, then i gotta run down to the grocers to pick some extras up. I ran out of pepper, and don't have any foil at the moment I'm gonna stock up for killer sandwiches tot ake up to the hill when i go riding. Getting sick of paying $7 for a shit sammich. I'll be pimpin the slopes with my roastbeef

                                              No, that'll make lumpy gravy.

Melt some butter in a pot and whisk in an equal amount of flour. A couple tablespoons of each should do it. Add a dash of salt and pepper, and let the roux cook for a minute (to get rid of the taste of flour).

Strain your liquids (getting the chunky bits out), and add a small amount of the strained liquid to the roux, let simmer for a minute - it'll get thick, then slowly add enough liquid to get the desired consistancy.

                                              Silky gravy every time.

I'm down with chunky gravy. I'm just gonna chop up roast and fry it up in there nayways,. then eat it on bread. i love leftover roast that way.
