Porn.tv - Truly elite domain back again at reduced price!

Yes you heard right, Porn.tv, a $50/yr one-of-a-kind .tv gem, is back in sale and at a considerably lower price than previously asked: $200,000.

Most premium .tv domains cost an arm and a leg in premium registration fees...in fact names of the caliber of Porn.tv are typically mid $xx,xxx per year to even low-mid $xxx, xxx per year in registration fees. Meanwhile, the next 100 years of registration on this, you'd only have to spend $5,000.

.tv has seen a huge surge in mainstream sites thanks to aptly used video related sites like Justin.tv and streaming sites like Ustream.tv. Likewise .tv is highly suitable for video sites in adult too. You could easily have the next big tube site simply by having this name and throwing a tube site on it - a heavy hitter like this would attract major word of mouth, and if you think there's no money in tubes, ask Brazzers - I don't think a huge network like that would be plastered all over them if they were not making any money.

Note that we also have Porno.tv as well. Porn did 30,400,000 exact searches last month in Google, porno did 9,140,000 so having both names you broaden your audience, plus on top of that, you secure the collateral traffic you may otherwise lose to Porno.tv. Right now only Porn.tv has a price tag on it, so if you want this name as well, make an offer and we'll take it into consideration.

Please feel free to post here, ICQ me or email me with your interest. Thank you!

I'm lost - what's the asking price again? $200k or that's what was previously asked and now it's much lower? $5k per year registration?

Spit it out in plain English ;)

              Let me think about that...

Keep in mind people that we had turned down $250,000 split across 12 months a while back because my client wanted upfront and not spready out - this price is 20% LESS than that offer. I'm still waiting to hear back from that offerer on whether or not they'll take me up on this but in the meantime you can snatch this puppy up and start watching the march to the top of Alexa.

They do. That's about all I can say at this point - I've done business with Dave before and have been in ongoing discussions with him about the name since before I ever posted it here. I will say that in my opinion, the more time that goes by without any of the interested buyers buying this, the more time they've lost in getting it built up and big...their loss, not mine! The name speaks for itself, sells itself, reaches out and grabs visitors' attention without a ridiculous ad budget needed. Given the crappy quality of the current prominent tube site names, I would not be surprised if this could become a rival in a hurry, but someone's gotta buy it!

Do you know for a fact if it's even for sale let alone for a lot less? If not, then that's kind of a weak statement.

The tv.com vs. .tv debate has been raging for a long time, and quite honestly with the increasing amount of companies using .tv for television advertisement, the increasing amount of higher trafficked .tv sites related to video, etc, and in this case especially given that the renewal fees are considerably less for this than the usual .tv of that caliber, I would take the .tv hands down in any case for that alone. It looks considerably more elite than the tv.com.

Additional reasoning however: Search engines like exact SLD match on a search term, i.e. on an otherwise level playing field, FreePorn(.)com will get favorable treatment for the phrase "free porn" due to exact SLD match. My partner's mainstream biz is current proof of this phenomenon - beating out her much larger competition, longer established, larger site, higher PR competition for the phrase that exactly matches her SLD.

So - Porn(.)tv gets an SEO boost for "porn" from exact SLD match - Porntv(.)com doesn't. Porntv(.)com gets an SEO boost for "porn tv" for exact SLD match BUT since google treats period the same as space, Porn(.)tv gets the same benefit, possibly even a BIGGER benefit for being a complete SLD/TLD match for the term. Given how obviously extremely competitive porn is in the search engines, having whatever SEO benefits possible over the competition can really help in the fight for rankings.

And even in the case of say Porn(.)com owning the name, having an additional weapon like that not only to get more traffic from its eliteness/whatever site is on it and further establish their brand, but also in the quest for higher rankings for porn on Google, where tube sites are currently beating them out. After all, if Porn(.)tv were a large bustling tube site like the other top results and gets favorable treatment for exact SLD match to "porn"...

If that's what I meant, I would have said there's exactly 30,400,000 searches for it, not there's 30,400,000 exact searches for it. Exact searches = searches for "porn" only, as opposed to all searches containing the word porn.

Anyone with the money to would be hard pressed to find a better domain to spend it on. Nonetheless, I'm checking back with my client now to see if they may yet again lower price, though I highly doubt it. If it was my name, I wouldn't. I sold a considerably worse .tv name with much lower search and $500/yr reg fees for $15,000, and Sex(.)tv owners had to dish out much higher to secure that name as the reg fees on it were $1 million/yr...yes they probably negotiated lower per year to secure it for longer but still - 20 years of registration even at $200,000/yr is $4 million, 20 years of Porn(.)tv at this purchase price and its renewal fees = $201,000.

                                                "as if they're accurate"

Nice try Homer (dare I say fitting avatar for you?). You linked to the domain I'm selling pointing to the appraisal saying it's worth that much. I link to the appraisal of Sex.com for less than $200k, a name which sold for $12 million and would probably sell for considerably more today. Ergo NOT accurate.

But whatever, what do I know about domains? I only make a living selling them.

The wankers should keep quiet. This is a very good domain, certainly worth the price.

One thing though: is the renewal really only $50? Why isn't this considered a "premium" renewal under the .tv rules.

From what I understand, they paid a buttload of money to negotiate that with the registry. Which is another reason I'm doubtful they're going to lower the price anymore...for all I know they may have had to pay that much or close to negotiate that.

However, it could in fact be something similar to the case of dvd(.)tv that I had. Apparently when Verisign was in charge of .tv, there were some cases when an expired premium would glitch at first after expiration and not immediately return to its true renewal. dvd(.)tv was only $500/yr renewal (normally would be $10,000+/yr) and he indicated he also had videos(.)tv which also had $500/yr renewal (and also would definitely normally be $10,000+/yr) and it wasn't any negotiation on his part but that he kept a close eye on expiring premium names because he noticed the reg fees on them glitch like that.

It's really unfortunate that Verisign withheld premiums for ridiculous reg fees in the first place (and I don't blame Enom for continuing it given a lot of people had already been paying exorbitant reg fees for some premiums). If they hadn't been doing that, .tv would probably be as popular as a .net or .org by now, but with all the best domains sitting there with nothing on them...

Porn.tv is a premium domain but $200k asking price is quite high.

Yes, the renewal fees have been partially the reason .tv has not caught on as much as it should.

That said, this is obviously one of the best. Good luck with the sale.

(I do think this is a $500 to $1000 a year renewal, but I could be wrong. My own premiums are set at that price, although there may be a way around those fees from what I have read).

Hell, I'm asking for this less than 2% of what it sold for, how in the world is that me making a comparison between the two names?

With poker for instance I've sold several Poker.ext for $1,000+ apiece, even pretty obscure extensions, but never was able to sell the couple Poker.com.ext, Poker.co.ext etc domains I've ever had. If it's a popular extension or a big country one, sure, but .com.ro isn't really. Still, good luck with it.

The only consideration may be the current economy. PornMd hit me up if you are interested in submitting it to an auction coming up that has not been over advertised.

I kind of doubt that. The last thing I remember remotely related to that domain is the owners of it buying FreePorn.com for $3 million. LiveWebcam.com sold on Sedo in 2007 for over $50,000, so if Webcams.com sold for only that, it was probably 5+ years ago at least.
