Never trust anyones PPS program, and never trust affiliates pushing only PPS. Most affiliates that push PPS are scammers and most programs that push PPS send multi-joins to other programs to make up the difference.

Smart affiliates know a good mix of Revshare and PPS sponsors in the portfolio is best. Spread the risk around a bit.

Instead of $35PPS, do like a $20 initial and then 30% RevShare every month after.

Do test runs and see what does best for you. Some PPS are very lucrative while others don't convert. Choose wisely with the the company and find out if they have good / bad reputation or low conversion ratios.

As far as which one is best though, I would have to say that the average retention of the sites members is the LARGEST factor, when it comes to if it's a good idea or not to do pps...

if you're at all serious about your business you should be TESTING YOUR SPONSORS. if you're going to invest time and money into promoting their program they best damn well be tracking decently, and if you haven't tested the waters before making that investment you are an idiot. i went for about 2 years without testing, and when i finally got around to it i wound up axing about 75% of the programs i promoted. there are good programs out there still, and pps isn't totally bust, there's a couple programs out there with $40PPS i can think of off the top of my head who actually do track and convert very well.

when it comes to pps vs revshare my choice depends a lot on how well i think the membership will retain. it's worth asking for a review pass just to check out the quality of the sites you're going to be pushing.

I'm not a scammer and I've done PPS 95% of the time since 1997 (back then PPS wasn't how it is these days mind you). I do some rev share, but most is PPS.

I've always done revshare and really only pushed lightspeed PPS.. And back in my more affiliate based days I'd make $400 or so per week ($800 per period) and I did PPS cause it was so easy and fast money.. but looking at it today I wished I would've done some of that revshare cause lightspeed sites back then rebilled decent

A hybrid payout would be cool though

Yeah, I'm not sure I follow the logic of this post... But... rev share is absolutely a great way to go if you have the time... Some people will absolutely leave their cards billing for months... a year or more... Rev Share is what we are doing! Even though it still feels irrelevant to this post...

A mix of pps & rev-share is smart.

With rev-share be careful who you do business with as it is going to take a few months for you to make more money than you would with pps, if indeed you ever do...

Also remember that pps amounts are propped up on the back of cross sells which on rev-share you will see no part of.
