Residents of Utah really like going online. But not to check their email or shop via the web. Instead, they're looking at porno!
In fact, a recent study shows that Utah, land of the Mormons, is the number 1 state for online porn consumption.
And, interesting enough, online porn subscription rates are actually higher in those states that voted to ban legal same-sex marriage and who support conservative religious ideas.
One thought is the fact that Utah's demographics show a larger number of young people in the age group 15 to 24, while those over 65 aren't as likely to get online porn.
Another reason is the scarcity of adult entertainment outside the home.
Pamela Atkinson, head of the Utah Coalition Against Pornography (who knew that even existed?), said "What I do know is that from all accounts the problem is really growing in Utah. People spending more time on the Internet are realizing this is something they can do in the privacy of their own rooms and their own homes."
Republican Rep. Carl Wimmer, added, "I'm not a huge fan of censoring the Internet, but this is definitely something to look into to see if we can stop the influx of pornography into our society, because pornography is such a plague. It's rotten to the core and it hurts families and it hurts children."
That's what he says publicly! Privately, he probably owns an extensive fisting porno collection!
