I remember Split Infinity getting the big awards 2 years or so and I used them and found them to be the most incompetent amateur host I have used to date. Box was constantly down, they asked us to post good stuff about them on GFY as a thankyou for answering our support ticket and getting our box back up, only to have it die again in a few days and over and over again. Not only that but their ticket system broke down half way through the mess and tickets were going nowhere. Then you go on GFY to see everyone crowing about how awesome they are... what a crock of shit that was.

You can tell exactly how good a host is by calling them at 3am locally their time. If someone picks up, they are pretty good.

National Net's phone number is 404-420-7000 at any time of the day or night and see how long it takes for them to pick up. Their support is the best!

I think that sale ended a few days ago. If I switched hosts every time there was a problem I'd spend all my time waiting for FTP to finish and DNS to update........

I shouldn't need to know how dey work, common sense suggests that if a box fails and they don't have the root pass they should contact the customer immediately. Nah, it makes more sense to dick around for 3 hours then send an email.

Funny how they hadn't responded to a ticket after nearly 2 hours yet the thread here got a response in 12 minutes.

Just weighing in here... I hosted with Webair for awhile, and while they were generally courteous to deal with once I got ahold of them, my sites did go down constantly - at least once a month, and 90% of the time I had to be the one to notice it, because it seemed like they didn't monitor uptime/downtime at all.

In my last few months with them, my sites began going doing 1-2x a week, and sometimes I'd sit in support chat waiting for a response after they told me to "hold on" for an hour plus. To their credit, often they would try and call me later (usually Gerard, at times I got the feeling he was the only one who gave a shit), but I rarely got to speak with them because of my schedule (that is not really their fault, though).

I did notice that the quickest way to get attention from them if their techs had disappeared in support chat or whatever was a GFY thread. Sad but true, it left me with the impression that they didn't care unless you told other people about your problems. That may not be the case, but it is how circumstances left me feeling.

However, compare this to Naked Hosting, who I've now been with for a few months... I've had ONE instance of server downtime, and they had noticed it and fixed it by the time I got into their support chat to ask about it (this was perhaps 5 minutes after the sites went down, max).

With Webair, I constantly felt stressed about if my sites were down or up or whatever... I feel very confident with my new host. So I guess what I'm saying is, after having the good experience I've had with Naked, I can't imagine how I or anyone else who experiences the same problems I had with Webair stayed with them month after month.

I think that the final damning thing, for me, was that I had sites with Webair and my server would get knocked out by a Hun listing... but I had 2 sites on Dreamhost virtual that I'd been too lazy to move because I wasn't decided on if I was going to renew them, one got a Hun listing, and Dreamhost VIRTUAL handled the traffic without going down. Um, ouch.
Give me money & buy my links here, damn it!
