maybe he'll get the idea a little better about how he was in a position of power and abused that TOTALLY by beating the shit out of a child....it's just beyond words how disgusting this person's action was. It's not like he was dealing with a grown man who was coming after him to beat him up, it was a teenager smart mouthing him and being a little punk. He was hardly in a position of real danger. I remember being that age and all teenagers are little jerks. Nothing new. Doesn't warrant a beat down by two fully grown men though.
I hope his punishment allows him to think long and hard about his actions and reactions...and how he thoroughly abused the position of trust and responsibility the state of Washington was stupid enough to put him in.

She will probably get some money, but I don't think she will be a millionaire.
Earlier tonight I was at a friend's house and showed him the video. He is a cop. I asked him what he thinks will happen with this guy. He said he doesn't know about that department, but if he did that his department would let him go (this might mean he is on permanent unpaid leave until his trial then fired after the trail) and they would turn their back on him. If they (meaning the department or the union) support him it would basically be saying that they endorse his behavior and they won't do that. So since what he did is against department policy and illegal there is a good chance she will only be able to go after him. She could still win millions, but the question is how much will she be able to collect.
If she gets a smart lawyer they will see he has had other problems and go after the union and department separately for keeping him on the job when they knew he was prone to do this type of stuff. That will be a harder case to win, but she could.
This dude is going to get hammered though. If he gets convicted, even if he doesn't serve a day in jail, he will the lose the civil trial by default. Once you have been convicted of a crime it is hard to convince a second jury you are actually innocent of that crime. Seattle is a pretty liberal part of the country so it is possible that the jury will want a send a message and will award her a huge amount. Even if she just gets 100K I doubt he has 100K laying around so she will take his house, car, furniture and anything she wants to pay it off. Whatever his next job is he will have his wages garnished until she is paid off so every payday he will get a nice reminder of what a tough guy he is.Comment

I'm not sure. I don't think he can though. I think a judgment like that is one of the things you can't claim on a bankruptcy. The only reason I think this is because Nicole Simpson's family is still going after OJ every chance they get (well, that is until he went to jail just now) so you would think if bankruptcy could protect you from that he would have done it. But it might be one of those things that is different from state to state.Comment
