??? How so. this shooting and the texas shooting were both committed by people who were not allowed to have those guns. In other words there are already laws to stop them from having them. I'm no fan of the NRA, I think that they suck as an organization, but they have always argued for proper enforcement of the laws that are on the books. Apparently, in these last two cases, the laws were not properly enforced, and the perps did not follow the laws.

The NRA has allowed and encourages the general public to arm themselves with assault rifles. The most popular weapon being sold right now is the AR15 - the civilian model of the M16, which is exactly what I trained with at Paris Island.??? No it is not exactly what you trained with so why try and pass that lie off as truth. In addition the last stats that I read less than 1% of gun crimes are committed with so called "Assault Rifles". I have not recently checked so the percentage may have changed. The last I am aware of the guns used in the majority of shootings are "Saturday Night Specials/cheap hand guns".
An "Assault Rifle" is a full automatic rifle. Not a semi automatic with any size of magazine does not an assault rifle make and you damned well know this. So why do you repeatedly state an AR-15 is an "Assault Rifle" when it is not and certainly is not the exact same weapon you trained with, an M-16, which was and is an actual "Assault Rifle".Comment

A rifle is used for hunting and target practice. An assault rifle is used to assault a position and kill people. The rate of fire has nothing to do with it. The AR15 I have here in my house is the same exact weapon I trained with in the Marines - the only difference is the rate of fire, a handful of parts. The way it's handled and what it's used for is the same.
It's like saying a Ferrari isn't a Ferrari if you take off the Z rated tires. It's still a Ferrari no matter what wheels you have on it.

I'm Dutch and we have strict gun laws here in The Netherlands.. That's nice, but now the bad guys have guns because they don't give a fuck about the law, because guns are easy to buy illegal.

It never was a military weapon and a military weapon does not an "Assault Rifle" make. The '03 was a bolt action, the M1-Garand a Semi Automatic. the M1-Carbine a Semi Automatic, none of which were "Assault Rifles" but were military rifles. An "Assault Rifle" has to be full automatic period. Every semi automatic rifle no matter the design of it is not an "Assault Rifle" period.Comment
