I depend on Gmail.
Some days ago I saw an article about Gmail being down 5 times in past half year, and thinking about I need to save the whole thing offline somehow... Can ThunderBird do this?

I use it, but I'll have to warn you:
Couple years ago I got my account hacked and never managed to get it back!!!
Google assholes were saying TOS, bla, bla, bla and I never wanted to return me my account! I even had my Google Checkout setup with my CC on the file...
They blocked checkout account but didn't want to give my my account back.

Anyway damage that I had because I got my account hacked was about $1.000
So take care... Their service is free and there is no guarantee that account is really yours...

Yea I'm on my 2nd one as my first one was hacked as well.

mac mail .. I have Gmail and Hotmail as well but company emails are regular old school mac mail.. I tried Gmail but I am not huge on the logging in all the damn time ..

I am using Yahoo, on my home computer google does not load (I got rid of a virus and also google disapeared) don't ask me to explain this...because I don't know why it does not load.

When Gdrive comes out I am getting another computer and will most likely use gmail.

what I also like about it is its all online my computer craps out or I have to reformat. I dont have to worry about saving emails.

Gmail here as well... for no other reason other than i've switched internet providers I don't know how many times over the last 5 years, and i've never had to worry about losing or forwarding e-mail to a new provider... ever.. in that time.

Also the spam protection is pretty good as well. Very rarely do I actually have to "Report as Spam" or even go into the spam folder to take something out.

gmail is more reliable for getting out important business emails and not ending up in spam boxes

for some reason, alot of spam filters incorrectly label as spam and I've found that gmail almost always gets to inboxes more reliably than alot of domain name based email
