Could just be where I'm at right now in my life, but conflict seems like a sincere form of misdirection. Why not focus on the things we all have in common?
This thought of singularity creeps into my consciousness as of late more and more. Politics less so. People need to make a couple of base concessions and plug into the big picture (a universal view rather than a world view) before even taking the simplest step forward.
I like people who make concessions. I like people who poke fun at themselves and show vulnerability.. That's not to say I like people who aren't trying.. But long as they are genuinely giving maturity and examined life a fair effort, who cares if we disagree on politics.
Guess I would rather focus on the points we do agree on and try to bridge the gap is all.

I don't try to control anyone's behavior on GFY. There is no controlling people's behavior online, unless you are an admin on a site. I stopped being genuinely helpful on GFY when it was clear that there's no moderation and the posted rules of the board aren't being enforced by the admin.
For instance, blocked fake nic "Boozer" only posts to hate troll me specifically in every thread, 95% of his posts are hate troll posts to me, everytime I post on GFY, for months. He's a complete stranger to me. Even though personally attacking a member and trolling them is against GFY rules, Eric allows this. He's blocked so no big deal but surfers and people who don't have him blocked see his trash posts after every post of mine.
There's absolutely no reason to help a community that doesn't have your back enforcing their community guidelines this is why so many abandoned GFY this last year and post on the other board now.
