    How to deal with a dog that has halitosis?

    I've tried all the stuff available at Wal-mart and Petsmart (I think)

    Freshies, dental chews, these pedigree breath control biscuits....but my Lab's breath still smells like she ate the ass out of a dead rhino.
    It's to the point where if she's breathing too heavily I have to leave the room to avoid the smell.

    I've got half a mind to put listerine or scope in her drinking water.


    Anyone have a good home remedy for this problem?

      Get her checked by a vet. Could be a larger digestive tract problem.

          Well... if you get an answer to your problem please think about starting a new thread with the product. There's quite a few people in our industry who seem to have the same problem as your dog and it's the same every single trade show. Hopefully they'll take note LOL... especially the close talkers.

              get better quality dog food. Its all the filler crap in the food that makes them gassy.

              It will also make their anal glands clog up because their stool is too soft due to the food and they will stink like fish assholes. Its really gross. Most dog food is just crappy quality.

              Change their food and it will all get better, I feed my dogs CANIDAE but can only find it online through amazon. No CORN, my dogs are allergic to corn and if I feed them food with corn they stink terribly and they get hot spots.

              Its all the genetically modified corn they put in the pet food now. Its not normal for them to eat the stuff, and it gives them issues.

                                  Gonna have to agree that you need to get your dogs teeth checked out and most likely, cleaned. Bad teeth can cause more health problems than stinky breath too so I wouldn't put it off too long.

                                          dinner mints.I have just gotten use to it. A fyi I use a premier dog food california naturals and their breath smells as much as it when they were eating costco. The big difference is the boston doesnt fart as much thank god.

                                                  Better quality dog food -- yes, get one that has parsely added, then once your dog takes to it do also the following:

                                                  Mix a litte warmed up broth into his food, and add about a teaspoonful of parsely flakes and mix it in. The broth should make him gobble it up like he hasn't eaten for days.

                                                  You can buy broth by the litre carton at any grocery store, both chicken and beef. Packets of parsely flakes are in the spice aisle.

                                                  Parsely is a natural breath freshener and it works throughout the digestive tract. It's a natural digestive aid AND it happens to have a ton of nutrients to boot.

                                                  Worked for my dog Sully throughout his final years, and believe me at his age his breath was pretty bad. The parsely in his food cured it, and I believe was also part of the reason why he lived as long as he did.

                                                  Getting his teeth cleaned/scaled is also great advice, but won't be the whole cure.

                                                      Btw, you probably already know this but I'll say it anyways... switching up his dog food is likely going to cause him to have a couple of days of bad farts and liquid shits.

                                                      Expect it.

                                                      Once that's done it should be clear sailing. It only took a few days for my old dog's breath to improve drastically.

                                                          Do you brush his teeth regular? That's a big part of keeping their breath fresh and their teeth from rotting out of their heads.

                                                              Feed your dog fresh meat or high quality dry dog food and you wont have a problem.
