This is NOT a sales pitch, I want to answer questions people might have and all kinds of related subjects when it comes to content. Don't be afraid to ask them, even when it comes to tubes.

Most emails I get from people asking questions are the same questions in most cases.
But people that DON'T email/ask might be informed in this thread and where I hope to take away some wrong assumptions.

My of advise if you are going to buy content:
(I bought content myself from 3rd parties before I became a content broker, so I know all about it)

1) Make sure you get it from a well know broker with a good long term reputation or from a studio (or producer) direct. This way you will eliminate most chances there could be something wrong and you lose your money or get into legal trouble later. JohnnyH@4453 with an ICQ No. is not the most reliable place to aquire your content from seen proffesional and legal point of view.

2) If a license agreement does not suit your needs; email, ask ! Conditions are subject to a deal, the studio, the studios' brand, the studios' requirements, etc. This means a broker could CHANGE the license agreement to fit your needs in MOST occasions but it might depend per studio they broker. You can imagine PRIVATE (PRVT on stock exchange who just merged with gamelink.com) has different legal requirements and brand protection then "Mike Horny from Smalltown" doing his thing.

3) Here's the best one: "Assumption is the mother off all fuck ups" (don't assume..ask!!!)

-content providers don't bite, they are not arrogant & they love small buyers with lot's of questions too.

-So if a site does not state "download", it does not mean it's not possible (upload/download). It might be possible manually but you will know when you ask.

-If a site does not show/state EXACTLY what you are looking for, it does not mean they cannot offer it. They might "outsource" things like custom encoding, scene cutting, licenses for Mobile, IPTV, even (VOD) Rev-share deals might be possible, etc. These possibilities would be hard to program and show on a site. Too many intel would overkill or would be rather impossible to show on a site or maybe too hard too understand for some people or not workable for volume buyers that need personal phone/IRL attention. People...that's what everything is about. Sites just bring them together based on common needs and google made that easy the last years. But it is all about people

-When your english/writing is not so good the content providers would still understand what you are saying. So don't be embarased to ask or communicate. They need your business and they will listen and answer your questions. Ich spreche Deutsch, je parle un petit peu Francais en ik spreek Nederlands. So I do my best to answer your questions in your native language or else I will have your text translated by 3rd parties to be able to communicate.

-Prices; most sites show a price. That's normal. But most sites DON'T show discounts or volume discounts. Some do when you are logged in as a registered user and with other you need to ask for it. A buyer looks at the discount/prices, a broker/supplier looks at the total..but..the broker needs to look at the total PER STUDIO (since a Studio won't care about the order done with his competition). So maximum discounts can be obtained by ordering per label/studio. Brokers advise for their clients too and don't work just for a Studio. They mediate and bring people together. Most Studios or producers have no clue what .php / ajax or H.264 is and some studios don't want 1K deals that broker do like. This is where the brokers come in. They understand both needs from the buyer AND the suppliers, speak both their languages (technically ot the actual language) and get these deals done for a commission. Everybody is happy when this happens.

-People are not online 24/7 365 days a year. So if you email a question in the middle of the night on friday, whereas most offices are closes in weekends, don't be surprised (or upset) if you get responded after the weekend. Not everybody uses ICQ (or other means) or have it switched on all day. People travel, visit tradeshows, visit clients, suppliers, have holidays too, get flu, have spamfilters, etc.

-On our site AdultContent.nl there is content with & without 2257. Why is that ?

Some suppliers could sometimes limit the usage of their content. This means a Studio/Label could have special restrictions.
An example would be:
-Studio A would wants a (c) on a video (only when it's downloaded)
-Studio B wants us to sell only to European buyers
-Studio C wants all money including tube usage
-Studio D wants everything BUT tube or free usage.
-Studio E wants all media deals except IPTV France
-Studio F allows all but X
etc. etc.
This is what the brokers have to work with. Do ask all your questions and needs first since there is NO global or universal solution to licensing content.
Paysites are not free sites and feeds are not VOD and so forth.

Brokers know their clients wishes and their studios' needs. Brokers are there to match a deal

First of all, thanks for this thread. I'm just getting started in the adult business and I don't feel comfortable asking a lot of questions to a vendor/broker when I know that I'm not going to be making many purchases for awhile.

Secondly, for someone in my position, are you interested in someone as a client who is looking for a specific niche, has a low budget (less than $100 per sale), and is looking for content to add to his site that is not 'oversold.'

For my site, we are producing some of our own content, but that is a slow process right now. We also use sponsor content, but it would be nice to be able to have some content that fits our niche, isn't already plastered all over the web, and is low in price. (heh, I know, I'm asking for the world here )

3) Are you looking for photos or videos and in what niche ? Then I can answer your question better. Our content varies from budget, mid price to high end in pricings (both photos as videos/dvds).

Mostly we would be looking for pics for this usage. The niche is BDSM; light to moderate bondage and amateur style would be best. Nothing too heavy, we have some sponsors for that stuff

you certainly do have some nice content.


How many content stores offering DVDs have 5 year limited licenses instead of lifetime license agreements ?

We are adding many photosets the coming weeks/months. Thousands of them.

We must be one of the few but there is a reason for that:
The license agreements are negotiable as are the prices with volume. It might vary per studio a bit. But on 80% to 90% of all studios I can offer lifetime agreements. Just a studios few have limits on the time. Like "Private" who are on the stockmarket as "PRVT".

Maybe it's a good idea for us to add that info in the shop soon (for logged in clients) or even show a seperate agreement for the large studios that require some small changes in our overall agreement.

I don't know about the Euro market but for the US market it's just a restriction that webmasters have never seen before and well candidly they can just go to a variety of competitors and get the expected lifetime license agreement. As for Private studio, they have awesome content and you are complimented in handling there stuff. But the 3 year license on that one wow that's just a lot for the paysite owner to swallow, every 3 years he would have an unexpected added cost to his overhead.

Even Private could "stretch the 3 years", just not lifetime. It all depends on the deal.
Studios are people too. It can never hurt to ask anything.
We get all these studios on board becuase we respect & honour their requests. In the end all need some money too, so if a deal is offered "outside my playing rules", I ask them and sometimes the would say yes and sometimes they would say no or have a counter offer for a client to consider.

In March we will add 4 MAJOR studios. One is a "virgin" to the internet and we will be the only broker and just 4 known VOD sites will carry this line.

We also program many VOD sites, do all kinds of Rev-share deals and supply feeds / member area providers.
