Trump has two people on board with him - his friends and family who have no political experience what so ever, and then people with political experience who aren't trusted by Trump, and do not get along with his friends and family. These two groups do not get along well, and he tends to favor his friends and family. I'm sorry, but Jared Kushner has no business being in the White House.
In the case of Manafort, he had been friends with Trump a long time. Others, like Papadopoulos, were "hand me downs" - Papadopoulos came from the Ben Carson campaign (if I understand correctly).
Some of his choices are fucking bizarre. Betsy Devos has ZERO experience in education. She had never ONCE stepped foot into a public school her ENTIRE LIFE - She went to private school as a child, her children went to private school, and her entire family has made a fortune in private schools. Ben Carson for HUD? That's a cruel joke, right? Perfectly qualified to be Surgeon General, but HUD? The argument Trump gave was that Carson grew up in pubic housing so he was qualified, but by this measure that means you and I are qualified based on the fact that our parents owned houses. The only one that seems to be doing well and understands her job is Nikki Haley.
My favorite though is Rex Tillerson for Secretary Of State. Zero qualifications for one of the most important positions in the country. Then add in Kushner who will magically just solve all of the problems in the Middle East, and it's easy to understand why nothing has been accomplished in ten months and his approval rating continues to sink lower, being the least popular president EVER.Herschel Savage

The Secretary of State is concerned with the relations of other countries, not what happens within the US borders. This is much more an area that the Department Of Energy would be interested in, or the Secretary of Defense. Hillary Clinton wasn't briefed on this, didn't sit in on meetings about this; The Secretary of State doesn't weigh on regular operations of energy companies. Her department signed off on it; This is something that happens hundreds of times a year.

The last time a campaign chairman was indicted AND charged was during Watergate. None of the charges mention Trump because they are not against Trump; they are against Manafort and Gates. These are money laundering charges, and very VERY easy to prove in court. Manafort and Gates will be facing serious jail time, and these might result in them going to prison for the rest of their lives. The intention it to put pressure on them to flip on Trump. If they don't flip, or if there was no collusion, they go to prison for the crimes they committed. Best case for Manafort and Gates is for them to tell all they know and make a deal.
We already know there was collusion. A member of Trump's Foreign Policy Committee "magically" met a Russian agent while on vacation in Italy, came back and told the Trump campaign he had met someone who had "dirt" on Clinton, and someone at the Trump Campaign signed off on him and "another person" going to a foreign country to meet this person.
As for the Podesta Group, there seems to be no indication of any wrong doing. They were mention in the indictment only because they did some work for the same group Manafort worked for. Working for this group isn't what Manafort is in trouble for, nor is there any wrong doing involved in working for them. There was a dozen other companies mentioned in the indictment, and oddly enough the only ones the Republicans have latched onto is the Podesta Group.
At this point the Podesta Group does not seem to be under investigation, nor are any of the other companies under investigation. In the event they decide to investigate them, and they discover the Podesta Brothers were making money in Ukraine and then holding it in a bank in Cypress that Russians use to launder money.... Well then, they will be charged and they can go to prison. With the Podesta Brothers there is no "deal" to be made.
Again, I find it amusing that out of the dozen companies mentioned only one is being singled out, and Republicans are acting like they are under investigation. Take a look at the Podesta Brothers and compare them to Manafort. The Podesta Brothers are life long politicians - Do you really think they were laundering money through banks in Cypress?

I am already involved in a number of local charities.
I also believe local politics is much more important - What happens in Washington has little impact on the local population. Taxes go up, taxes go down, healthcare costs will always go up.
What's important to me is my house not flooding. My city government was blasted for working on flood control during the recession when our local government was going broke. The city government told us it wasn't a matter of if we would have to deal with flooding, but when, and sure enough when the rains finally came last winter we were ready and everything worked as they hoped.
I am very well known here locally. I run the local Facebook groups for the city. Everyone is telling me I need to run for city council. I am sure I will in the future.Herschel Savage
