    I have no issues with gun ownership and think that teaching kids respect for firearms can be a good thing. I'm on the fence about hand guns in the house and personally would never have one, but I think bare minimum a training course should have to be taken before you could purchase one.

                    if you own a handgun you should have to qualify at least 4 times a year like cops do.....


                    personally I shoot a min of 1000 rds a month... I used to shoot more but my time is taken up now....

                            Out of 100 willing to kill with a gun, only 80 would do so with a blade, 60 would do so with a club, 40 would do so with their laces...

                                                                        It's not a fact, it's a statistical fact. The "fact" isn't that people would less likely eat meat if they had to kill the cow. If that were FACT we would not be carnivorous. We'd be total omnivores.

                                                                        We used to have to kill animals with much less than a blunt knife. That didn't stop us from killing them. Just because we're intelligent and have created guns. Doesn't make use pussies. It makes us more efficient.

                                                                                statistically a person is far more likely to use a knive than a gun. a gun strikes fear, a criminal who pulls a gun does it to put the fear into you. it is risky to shoot someone and the majority of people who pull a gun do so not with the intent of using it, but simply intimidating their victims into cooperation. when a criminal pulls a knife on you, odds are they mean fucking business. the odds of someone pulling a knive on you using it vs someone pulling a gun on you are MUCH higher.

                                                                                those who come into a situation armed with a gun and intent on using it are not concerned about the method by which they are killing. the gun simply becomes a tool of necessity. if i wanted someone dead, and didn't have a gun, i'd find an alternative, as would most anyone else. yes, if you banned every gun in north america, and someone managed to actually get every gun in north america destroyed, it would stop the handful of accidents like this that happen every year. it would not sway the levels of violent crime.

                                                                                there's also plenty of statistics supporting the fact that victims of vital gunshot wounds are more likely to survive than victims of vital stabbings. i can't vouch for this in anyway as i'm not a doctor, but i've heard it time and time again. people

                                                                                i will agree with you, that if everyone had to kill their own food, you'd probably see a lot more vegetarians out there. but fact of the matter is, no one kills their own food anyways. very few at least, the most of the meat comes through killhouses and is cleaned and packaged by butchers. if there were no guns do you think those butchers would have any less hangup over chopping a head off, or bleeding an animal out as opposed to just shooting it? no. we would simply have an alternative way to go about it, and lets face it, it would probably be far less humane.
