Nice. I wish other businesses would just give away every secret (surfers now know what an affiliate program is, what x-sells are, hell...how every part of our business works) I'd like to be a banker. Or a wall street broker. Or get in the commodities markets. Or maybe the oil business.

But damn...for some reason I can't find a forum anywhere that features the actual big players in any of those industries revealing how their businesses really work to their consumers. I wonder why?

Carry on guys! I just finished looking at a "Mega Download" thread of 20 or 30 links to Claudia-Marie's old scenes over on pornbb and laughing at the surfers getting pissed about the fact that the links keep getting yanked off rapid share.

Funny thing is...that forum moves 20 x faster than GFY. And each time I hit reply on her thread, within a minute it would be on page 3.

What was pushing it down so fast?

Those poor, innocent surfers loading up other threads as fast as they could with more links to all or your websites members areas completely ripped.

I honestly think that all of this "surfer education" going on at review sites and at freeones for instance...is not a good thing for our industry. I understand the intentions of those sites...but the results are very bad.

I may be old school, but we would never have done any of this in 1998, 2003, and not now either.

We started out our tgps presented as Nice guys just wanting to share our porn.

But now our own people have revealed that it's all about affiliate programs. Dumb.

The illusion has been broken and the marketing strategy of the free site destroyed.

And guess who is now using that SAME marketing strategy?

Why it's those nice guys at the torrent sites and illegit tube sites! They are just so damn nice and let you have ALL the porn on the internet for free and don't try to charge you at all!

Of course the surfer doesn't know and doesn't care how the torrent site is monetizing through dating ads. All they know is....he is NOT part of those affiliate programs that have been discussed on the surfer forums from the info they go on GFY and others. And they don't have x-sells that are also now discussed on every surfer forum that they learned about on review sites, freeones and right here on our own industry forum.

I don't know...I said it from the very beginning that if people in our business didn't learn how to run a closed business like every other goddamn industry in the world, we would suffer.

I suggest that everybody who thinks I'm wrong...start doing some research on surfer forums.

And also...don't bother trying to do searches on pornbb to find your stuff.

I am not a surfer trying to get any free content here . I did not ask for the payouts here coz maybe all program have different payout options. Once the sponsors is listed, I would personally contact the affiliate manager and check out the affiliate area to know more about the details.

I am assuming the strategy behind programs that offer one dollar trial ( which is normally 2 days ) is just to encourage the members to whip out their card and give it a shot at those sites that interest them. And normally program who can really offer $1 trial without any x-sales would be program that is pretty confident about their content and hope the trial members wud rebill. I hope I am right on this and feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I am really a newbie and am just addicted to those nifty stats sales notification pop ups....lol....so even at $1....i might still get a pop up with the amount of 0.50 to 0.65 ( depends on a certain program ) and hope they will continue after 2 days.

And as for the comment of Pornguy....I do not have a sites that have massive of traffic to demand for a tailor suit campaign. And I think I am aware of the scenario if I were to have tons of traffic I could really bargain for special deals. It does not work only in online biz but it applies also in the conventional biz, just like if I am Walmart, I would be in a better position to ask Coke and other big brands to kinda dance to my tune . If I were to have such sites with tons of traffic, I think I wouldn't need to post inquiring sites with $1 trial with no x-sales as I can kinda request for the programs to dance to my tune. I am merely asking for programs who is already having this sort of deal. I apologize if the way I made the post sounds untactful.

And thanks again for the people who response to my post with some helpful information. I hope I can get more notification pops up in my nifty...lol

Sorry to lump you in with the masses. That wasn't my intention. I'm just frustrated at what I see happening around me. My apologies for any disrespect to you.

On a marketing note...trial memberships do have their place. Quite frankly, I never promoted trials very much. And I have had tremendous sucess over the years as an affiliate. Looking at my stats remote for affiliate sales over the last 5 years I netted $3,428,974.76 all revshare and 90% without trial memberships.

And to come at it from the paysite side....Claudia-Marie.Com is my main paysite. $34.99 recurring, $74.99 for 90 days non-recurring. No trials offered at all. Sales have been phenomenal since day one, and with the new tube tour I just put in 3 days ago we are blasting through the roof with it.

Having said that...I have had many, many other program owners tell me that I am missing out on a lot of money by not offering a trial or "limited access" trial membership. So I may be missing the boat on the whole trial concept.

I am going to start offering a $10 for 5 days non-recurring membership for my type in traffic only (which FAR exceeds affiliate traffic in numbers and sales). Sort of an experiment in micro memberships as opposed to trials.

I have already saw that I can offer VOD on my site and people will pay $10 to download a single scene. That one person ends up spending hundreds of dollars to download scenes at ten bucks a pop when he could have had all of it for $34.99. It's just a different marketing approach and some folks just prefer to do it that way.

So my thought on the $10/5 day non recurring membership is the same. Each one has the potential to be a $60 a month sale.
