She didn't call the cops, a neighbor who heard the screams did, also, there is a HUGE difference between a fight and a beating, and there is such a thing as unfair fights.

It's not about women wanting equal rights having to take violence just as guy should take violence, violence is wrong, fights are understandable but there are limits: is it okay when older girls beat up little boys at school? No, it's unfair. Yet the same kind of people who are eager to twist the statement for "equal rights, equal responsibilities" are the kind who will mock the boy for not being able to stand in an unfair fight, and will defend a guy beating his wife. See a pattern?

IF you start a fight, then I can see how they would respond to you. But if in said fight the girl has a broken nose, bruises, bites, and was choked unconscious and the guy is pretty much intact... then things DID get out of hand.
