Why would anyone say where they are advertising or if they are doing good with it? I never understood why people in this biz always expected everyone to give away all their secrets or willingly tell everyone theirs.

The best thing you can do in any business revolving around advertising is keep your trap shut.

On the other hand, if the publisher has an ad schedule and talks about traffic with you, it's not terribly difficult to determine whether someone's doing well. If they keep advertising month in and month out, that speaks volumes, no?

This thread is just an attempt to short the circuit from A to B. Hell, once the publisher is not a secret any more, what juicy tidbits have you still got to hide? :D

Funny thing is, I was over at /b the MOMENT the ads went live (talk about perfect fucking timing lol) and there were like 40 threads popping up LAUGHING at the porn ads, I did not bother to screencap any of it (sorry lol) but here is some of the most common themes of their remarks:

#1 Remark: ZOMFG, why the fuck would I click on those ads OR pay for porn when /B is my personal Fap site?

#2 (my personal fav) I don't mind the porn ads, but why such shity sites, they only have 8 sec fucking clips for fucks sake

#3 I guess the porn ppl finally found us, /B is now dead

#4 Moot is trying to make money off us, how cute (Moot is the founder/owner of 4chan)

#5 Fuck those ads just go to _____ , _____ , ______ , ______ etc

someone from here (I can only assume) then started posting links to the 2 latest 4chan related threads from here and "warned" that their precious site was about to be flooded with porn ppl trying to make money off of them. and there were also some un-named porn webmasters making threads about working in the industry, and how much FREE PORN was available if you just "sign up to promote stuff"

If you have any free time it is really a good idea to scan the various boards there, I've found more passwords, and exploits over the past few days (that I've also alerted the proper people about) then I wanted to OR thought could be.

The latest "claim" there right now is something like this.....

"Post ending in X number tells me what pornsite to join and rapidshare"

Meaning: Original poster will join a certain site, download all the content they can, and then upload to rapidshare, and add it to their rapidshare section.

I'm curious to know how well the banners are working for WEG, but more so I question how much of a good idea it is to be advertising on that site in the first place given the age (nothing like what their demographics claim from what I've seen!!!) and content posted and hosted there.

You own/run a site where the main topics / content is free porn / gore / "hacking" / "attacking" etc

if this was YOU which would you do first....

Put up some ads YOURSELF, KNOWING you prolly won't make much money from the clicks that don't happen

OR

SELL the adspace for god knows how much, and make concrete money from your daily traffic alone?

When will some crafty /b/tard post a screencap that shows an ad above a CP post? That can't be good for advertisers. I imagine there's a reason Coca Cola and NBC don't shill on this high traffic board ;).

would not be that hard really, BUT I've seen some of the "cp" threads, it's kind of a joke most times, you know what the bulk of these ppl THINK is CP.....
