AdBrite 1099-misc sent on Feb 5th.. damn it!

I didn't realize I would get a 1099-misc from Adbrite. I filed my taxes Feb. 6th, and am awaiting my refund. It's late. Now I know why.

Hey AdBrite - 1099s are supposed to be delivered by Jan 31st.

    This is postmarked Feb. 5th.

Want to pay for my extra filing costs and the delay of my refund? The refund is 5 figures so yeah - I do care about it.

You might be able to get them in trouble.

They are supposed to be postmarked by Jan 31st, not delivered.

I probably would be as well.

Business partner always waits on the K1 for the partnership. I do not typically get it until March or April. Which is always a pisser.

I keep up on my paperwork for my personal, other two businesses, and receipts through the year. I will typically file my taxes in Jan, or early Feb. So I always have to file an amendment later because of him.

I'm not sure if I understand the u.s. system, wouldn't you already have accounted for your dealings with Adbrite in your calculations on your own return forms? i

sn't having the actual physical 1099 form just a formality?

I added the revenue from AdBrite to my misc income section. There's no worries about under reporting income or anything like that.

But, the IRS gets a copy of the 1099-misc, so I need to submit my copy so everything matches up. This should just be a delay in processing the refund, but once they look at a return manually, anything can happen.

In short, if any income is reported to the IRS on a 1099 or any kind, it has to be reported by the citizen in that way, or everything will grind to a halt until the return is amended.

I got the same. Mostly because of new home owner tax credit.

I just spent three hours on the phone with the IRS. While finding documentation, I found the note that came with their 1099-MISC. This form letter is a letter sized page cut in thirds, and it starts with "hello", not Dear Mr. Last Name, etc:

"Due to a technical issue the 1099 form we previously sent you contained an incorrect earnings amount. This is your corrected 1099, which you should use to file your taxes. Please disregard the first 1099 you were sent."

                          etc etc

I hope you have evidence of the "faulty" 1099 form you say sent me. It's funny that the "corrected" box on the 1099-MISC isn't checked.
