what are some cool apps to buy for it? I was reading on a forum about jailbreaking it why would one do that since its not a phone?

I considered jailbreaking my Ipod Touch. Haven't done it yet. As for apps I don't use many of them because I don't have my touch with me all the time

Swap the mobileinstallation file with a cracked one to be able to update your applications (cracked .ipa's) via iTunes. This is done after you jailbreak it.Comment

My iPod Touch makes me money as a portrait and wedding photographer. The photos app is a portfolio in my pocket. I have lost count the number of clients I have picked up by showing images while out and about town. I also daily use the email, web browser, calendar, contacts and, of course, the iPod function. It mail not be a phone, but with WiFi, you can still do everything else (no cam either).
Negatives: Notes can't sync to desktop, no copy/cut/paste. No "to do" app built in.

I love the Apple commercial that boasts about an app that helps you calculate your portion of the tip for a 5 person bill.
If you whip out a cool ipod touch or iphone and then promptly start calculating your exact tip down to the penny you pretty much lose all coolness.
I guess I'm saying don't buy the tip calculator app.

The iphone dev team have been working on the iphone and apparently aren't too bothered about jailbreaking the ipod. Chronic Dev is working on the ipod (http://chronic-dev.org/blog/), I think they've just released something to crack the ipod touch but you'll have to know what your doing before attempting it from what I've read over therePunkys.com

We switched to the Iphone for Christmas..
and it literally is the best investment Ive ever made.. in my entire life.
I use the weather apps religiously.. for planning bike trips...
We use the ITrails (or something like that) when out bike riding so we can find our car.. It's much easier to use than the bike GPS...
and OMG the games!! My hubby takes forever to do anything.. and he's always talking, like nonstop when we're at stores or something.. so I play my games while waiting on him...

the touch has a "ton" of apps on the itunes store and most are good there. no need to jailbreak it unless you're looking to hack it or mod it. get a earbud/mic combo so you can use it w/ skype and voip/truphone.
to the person posting about making $$ with it via the photos, the touch has a "horrible" and shaky camera. it needs a better camera + flash + other image stabilization tools. I wouldn't want any type of wedding photos w/ an iPod touch in my wedding unless they were spur of the moment pics and even that i'd hope the photographer had other equipment. no disrespect, but the touch's camera sucks for biz.Email: [email protected]
