Reading through this thread, I knew by the first post where OP explains what happened that probably the wrong database was copied - the site worked but was missing posts. After OP complained about it, his tech should have looked at the wp config file to confirm that he had copied the right database. It's also the first thing I would have checked if the site was working but it was missing posts especially given that prior to moving DNS the content was all there...

I don't see what "sneaky shit" fappy did exactly, especially if you confirmed that all was ok.

Proper way to move a site:

1. create site on new server
2. move/create files on new server.
3. load up the database on new server.
4. Change hosts file on local machine so domain points to new server.
5. Debug site on new server.
6. Once site on new server is good go to registrar and change out dns for domain.
7. Remove hosts entry so you can see actual site when dns rolls.
8. Anywhere form 10 minutes to 2 hours later see site on new server.

Pretty much works perfectly every time.

BTW, the statement about 24-72 hours for propagating the dns is pretty much out of date. Typical propagation time I see is usually less than an hour.

There's no content because your tech didn't fix it. Fappy didn't GIVE you the wrong database, your tech TOOK the wrong database. Your tech did not check the site with hosts file before telling you it's done and to switch DNS. Fappy didn't do a single sneaky or fishy thing here as far as I can see. He even posted up the database again for you to copy...

You should really be pissed at your tech because he fucked it up, not fappy or anyone else backing up his side here... No one's saying you're an idiot, they're just saying you're unreasonable. Your tech could have made an honest mistake too - but he should have checked his work.

Secondly, I have done some investigating. I downloaded the database that Fappy said was the correct database and there are only 67 published posts in that database.

I have touched base with Brian Mike and his tech is seeing the same thing.

So, the tech might not have screwed anything up.

I am waiting to hear back as to where the idea that there were 300 posts came from.

So, either someone got confused or misunderstood or we are looking at the wrong data.

I sent you the cPanel to my last host that I had saved in a file of logins, i forgot I had moved hosts when I realized namecheap didn't allow adult. So you're right, you got an earlier version. I just sent the right cPanel to hostgator to your email. The database I just posted is the correct one, but you're going to want to grab the images and stuff from the hostgator account. My bad, now I feel like an idiot for all that shit talking.
