    Tire Question

I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee.... The tires I have on right now are 245/70R17.

A friend of mine has a four brand new tires, 265/50R20. Seems they are coming off a brand new truck and wants bigger tires.

Would the 265/50R20 tires fie on my Jeep?

    No, will not fit

    Tyre Size Example
245 is the width of the tyre in millimetres.
70 is the aspect ratio or tyre profile.
R means it is radial construction.
17 is the diameter of the wheel rim in inches.

His rim is 20" and yours is 17"

Richard, if your friend also plans to include the rims/wheels, then 20 inch should fit inside the wheel well.

but then you need to make sure it's got the same bolt pattern. A rim off of a chevy truck will not fit on a jeep.

So if you want to get new 20" rims that work with your jeep then yes.

Back 20 yrs ago i was into lowered trucks. I took the hubs out of my Mazda and had them redrilled to take GM 5 lug rims instead of the Mazda 6 lug. 6 lug rims were hard to get the right style but GM 5 lug you could get any style rim.

Yeah, this is the conclusion I came to but needed to verify. I'll need to upgrade my rims if I want the tires. The tires are free so I'll take them....

They might fit in the well but will rub, you need a lift kit. Aren't jeeps famous for roll overs? I wouldn't touch the suspension if that's the case
