You know - czech was cheaper than US back then (and still is), and the people were earning less (and they still do, but not so much like before). So for AVERAGE czech guy/girl back then those 10-15 bucks were like 80 bucks for Average Joe in US these days.
I think thats not so hard to understand actually...
We paid girls who came to a casting 500 CZK for 10 minutes posing nude. Assuming they had their IDs.

We paid 10,000 CZK for a full days work.

They were happy with this.
