Anyone used one of these tiny ass camcorders?

I'm not shooting content or anything, just home movies.......but the camcorder I bought years ago only shot vids in like 240x150 resolution and I'm hoping to avoid junk like that.

Insignia? No. RCA, Panasonic, Sony, Phillips, Etc.. Maybe.. I wouldn't by a Non HD cam right now tho.. They are just too great and too cheap.

i was looking to buy one for my brother for xmas, but reviews i read said most are not worth it. the good ones run about $200-$300. Picture quality is really poor in dim to dark light and very pixelated if you move the camera around a lot

i had one in my hands last time i was in bestbuy, waiting in the line and just kept looking at it and decided not to buy it. The appearance and look just felt cheap. Figured it was a donation of 100 bucks after a weeks worth of use.

I just bought the Flip Ultra like the one Shirley posted tonight. We have a very nice video camera but wanted this "cheap" one..and here is why.

We have a good quality video camera...we use it...and it takes FOREVER to go through the footage and get it web ready.

The FLIP is designed for sharing and has built in software. So you take it to the beach, get some footage of some surfers, plug it into your computer using the cameras USB connector and then you can edit the footage and the software will even upload it for you to tube sites etc.

Selling your car, boat, house....take footage of it, plug it into your computer upload to youtube and then share it. You can even take a video of your kids first steps and within a couple minutes the program will email it to grandma.

Standard video cameras I can't live without, but this baby will be in my purse all the time ready for anything that comes along. And the size is perfect, it is the same size as your digital camera..fits in your pocket...and at under $200 you can't beat it for ease of use and sharing

I have had 3 Sanyo Xacti's (HD & waterproof versions) and I love them.

The hi-def ones even have mic inputs. (You may have seen me at shows with them)

I use one for my weekloy nbc show. Records in 16:9, mic input, and HD.

The waterproof one I have (and love) is about $200. It is AWESOMe for events like Burning Man where dust, wind, moisture may be an issue. (I've ruined a few tape heads.)

The HD version is around $600 now, so yeah, not in the "cheap" realm.

I'm shying away from the one I posted now since I noticed it doesn't have any optical zoom. It just has digital zoom, and from what I'm reading that's basically worthless, like blowing up a low rez picture in photoshop.

I just want something for home movies, Snake Doctor Jr is 4 months old now and I wanna get vids of him rolling over and when he starts talking and walking and all that.
I'm not going to get anything top of the line, but I don't want something that I'll regret buying a month after I get it like you do with most of the cheapest model stuff.

The Sony Webbie is 1440x1080 with 5x optical zoom. $200. I am thinking about getting it.

I have used the Flip Mino before. The older 640x480 version. Under near perfect lighting conditions it is decent. I haven't used the 1280x720 one out now.

I fucking Love my flip video! Ive shot a ton of stuff with it and the quality is very good.
My old $800 camcorder never gets used. I bring my flip all the time.

...Maybe out of your range, but the Canon HV30 HDV is fucking amazing. It's all about the CCD size with shooting good video. ...Aside from fucking up whatever codec your using in post production, Canon is bad ass, hands down. The Canon was 1,100.00 when I bought it this past Spring, lord knows, It has surely come down in price. It is tape media, btw. Never had tape fuck up on me yet, sticking with it for now. From what I understand, the HV30 is also Canons last tape video product to be released.

I bought the Insignia one for the hell of it when I was buying other stuff. It's not bad, but only a few steps better then cell phone video. When moving fast and zooming, the CPU or whatever slows down and the frame rate goes to hell.

Good for throwing in your glovebox and leaving it there in case something funny happens. But not for real video.
