it's not really a democratic election...

-when there are only 2 parties represented in the media and money is critical for a successful campaign
-when the politicians get to practically pick their own voters through gerrymandering
-when the politicians can be influenced by lobbyists after the election

    how is this democratic?

You missed the most undemocratic part, the Electoral College, who overturned America's popular vote favoring one candidate by over 3 million, and annointed the candidate with 3 MILLION less votes to become president.

OP states serious general issues with the democratic system (rightfully so) in the United States, you start yapping about the electoral college.

in all fairness they had a choice between herpes and syphilis and even if they flipped a coin on this one the result would still be a failure....

if US democracy was a sporting event, the athletes competing would have to pay millions to run in a race, they could only be from 2 clubs the reds or the blues and they could pick their own referees and the post game results could be altered with money...

I would not say that the USA has democratic elections...

Democracy is when two wolves and a sheep vote for who is for dinner

A bipolar political system is not envisioned in the US Constitution. It is more adversarial than it is leaning toward coalition building by consensus. It evolved by manipulation.
