Don't listen to them, I've been a strict Media Buyer for 11 years now and buy about 7k a day worth of traffic from the big brokers and have never been below 30% ROI on a given week. I could buy 15k a day, it's there but it gets expensive and risky with that much owed to you after a few days. It's so consistent with small dating and cam offers that it's almost a perfect 30-40% per day. You have to keep on it and change creatives and landers etc.......but yeah of course it works. Nobody will tell you this because they want to keep their secret
Some good sources (adwords and a few others I can do 150%) and quality is GOOD.

Let's not mix things up though. Media buying to make a profit on various offers, and buying traffic for yourself are two entirely different games.
I think that the OP is interested in buying traffic for their own paysites.
As a media buyer, you're probably promoting a lot of dubious offers, which rely on $100-200 hidden cross sales/upsells to make a profit, or sell expensive products/services.
It's a lot harder to make a profit by advertising a paysite in my opinion. You also have to compete with bids against offers that scam people. You can't afford the same advertising rates you're running an honest paysite.
I think it's possible. But the OP might be better off buying specific spots from sites that look reliable.
Or dive into the world of mass media buying, but get ready to burn a lot of money for testing before turning profitable, and spending a lot of your time on it too. Probably true for multi-offer media buyers too, but it will be even harder for paysite owners.Comment

I really didn't want to comment on your passive aggressive approach there but you can still do just fine promoting your own program. I can do 2x as many leads/conversions with my own collection boxes and then email them the PAYSITES with my own built lists of many thousand per day and make a LOT MORE profit but it will take 2-3 months to get that buy money back. Then it's all huge profit, much more than if I do the media buy for leads but takes much longer. Plus longer investment with more risk since I don't own the program. So if you have the cash and budget of course you can do it. How do you think all the dating sites and cam sites do it now paying SOI? I know for a fact it takes them many months just to get even on that payout, then start making profit and the real kicker nobody talks about is they then sell off their members area traffic in monthly buys to major ad networks for big money. Several 100k per month, all pure profit. A means to a nice profitable end if you've got the capital and you don't have to use DUBIOUS means. You just have to run it like a business where expend a lot of capital and don't see that return for a while. buying from amateur sites does very well, by hitting up them directly, without going through a broker.
ive always made the best money pushing amateur stuff on amateur free sites.

Can make money in traffic but it's not spend $500 and get back $1000 or everyone would buy it all and nobody would complain. Takes time and a few wasted $ to slowly filter it down to what works as quality trumps quantity. Most don't have the patience so they buy once or twice with zero filtering don't make shit and say it sucks where others continually analyze tweak and profit.

Same here. I've done multiple banner changes, bought ads from multiple sites from juicyads, tested with multiple cam sites. 0 conversions everywhere, everytime.
