well i personally think it was good, he did a "FIRST" even in his speech.
No other President in Americas history has done what he did.
He can be christian, that is fine with me, but do not label atheists as anything but a true and devout way of thinking. I voted for him and I am as atheist/antitheist as you can be. I am glad he said it.

Actually, I applaud his entire speech - but yeah, especially him acknowledging the atheists among us. He did a tremendous job to give shout-outs to a very wide range of the public.
He also mentioned about the people who do their work in "obscurity" to keep the country functioning. Too often it seems as if only the 'celebrities' or people in high profile/political positions are given all the credit.
It was a great speech - I'm sure will go down in history as among the greatest inaugural speeches ever made.
Although I still support Harper here in Canada...damn, I wish we had a charismatic leader like Obama north of the border.Comment

I don't know, I am a little conflicted on this one. I think I would have rather heard him use the term atheists or those who believe in something else.
To me, saying "non-believers" smacks of condescension, especially with its placement in the sentence. As if to say, "Oh... and you guys too. The ones that are ignorant of the truth."
I guess it is the thought that counts. And if anyone cares, no I am not atheist but I do detest organized religion.
