Impeachment is the leveling of the charges. Charges were formally made, at that point he was impeached. He was not convicted, he was not removed from office, but he most certainly was formally charged and thus he was impeached.

That is quite clear. First someone is impeached, then they are either convicted or acquitted. But either way, they were impeached.
