I used to own it when it was called the CAR-15. Built it piece by piece through the mail. The only part that needed to be registered was the receiver. I even made my own rounds.
Actually, not true. The romanian AK is one of the poorest made quality AK you can buy. Its like the Yugo SKS...But they are dirt cheap, I have 2 of them. Chinese or nothing with AK's, but you will pay for em.
Mike....pick up a Russian/or Chinese AK-47.....along with an AR-15 (make sure to get the .308 caliber as well as the .223 caliber Bushmasters)
Also be sure to pick up at least 10 composite (carbon or plastic) 30-round magazines for each gun. Steel will not last for 30 years.....make sure to oil the springs once a year.
yes.. we can own any assault rifle as long as it's not full automatic. There was a ban that limited certain items on assault rifles, but didn't stop you from owning them. You can also get a permit to be able to own full auto but you have to jump through a hell of a lot of hoops.
In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.

AK-47 must have a certain amount of U.S. made parts in them to make them street legal so to speak.

Uncle Sam spent a lot of money to make sure I knew how to use the M-16... thus I am partial to the AR-15. I've never touched the M4, so can't really compare.
I still want to find a good M1 to make all nice and shiny!

I'd go for the AR-15 just because not all gunfire exchange is done at short to medium distances. You can shoot accurately to about 6" at 600 yards with an AR-15. The M4 is only that accurate out to 250 - 350 yards and takes a lot more control and tighter positions.

I'd go for a nice piston AR. Doesn't matter which lower you get. I'm really diggin the ones from Lewis Machine Tool and LWRC. You can fire a few magazines worth of ammo, pop out the bolt carrier, and hold it up to your face. Piston ARs run that cool.

Also pick up a Saiga 12-gauge semi automatic.
We should live closer to each other. Once the end of the world starts it is going to be insane trying to cross the country in order to band together and kick some ass.
