Not really, they give local anesthesia with needles and you feel nothing. The longest part was letting the numbing agent work. I was in the office for only 20 minutes and a short follow up 2 weeks later.

That's what I did to some extent. I just got tired of it as I would have to do some prying and inevitably will always have blood from poking and prying. I've dealt with this for almost 15 years now. Sometimes it occurred once a year, other times every 6 months. I just decided to fixed the problem permanently.
My toes are almost never exposed in public or anywhere else.
This isn't like teeth, I wouldn't have all my teeth pulled because brushing and maintaining them is annoying. lol.

They killed the root with phenol, it's not coming back, look at the pics. If it was going to grow back it would have had a little bit back by now.
I felt a little sad parting just before the operation but no regrets from there on out.
