Fukushima LEAK

It's bad, but honestly what can anyone do about it? They haven't even been able to get into the worst reactor because there is so much radiation it destroys the equipment.. I mean honestly wtf do they do?
Sure they can tell you about it but it doesn't change anything. Honestly as bad as it is, I sort of wonder if controlled leakage is not the only solution. The core of these reactors turned molten and burned through their encasement. How deep that shit's gone is anyone guess...
It's just like Chernobyl, they just finished the new sarcophagus but it's life expectancy is only 100 years.. Then what?
We have the abilities to create this shit but not fix it when it goes wrong. Meanwhile people fight against green/renewable energy if favor of polluting our planet even more..In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator. -

To be fair, Fukushima was hit with a 1-2 punch that day. Earthquake AND a tsunami.
Then again, these reactors are based on 50 year old technology. There are safer and more modern technologies available now that reactors should be based on.
There's a good article about that at Popsci: Building A Safer, Cleaner Nuclear Reactor | Popular ScienceComment

Instead of the world figuring out what to do, it's war war war.
Solution?
I'm not an engineer but it's obvious the rulers not only don't care about us, but they're idiots. Or aliens.

Isn't nuclear an old energy now? With all the advancements with our technology and ability to create renewable energy I can't believe people (other than those with investment portfolios) consider building bigger and "safer" reactors, when clearly there is no such thing as completely safe. The fact that renewable energy is cheaper and well renewable there is less profit in it, that's the bottom line.

Even before Fuk-u-shima....Millions of tons of garbage was being dumped in our oceans yearly....And STILL is. The worst part is? Still nobody gives a shit. Commercial shippers tryn to cut costs, by dumping their garage overboard...Knowing nobody will see... Militaries of all countries do the same.. just hide it in the ocean no problem ...Could also b contributing to ocean level rises...Just all the garage itself. Millions of tons a year !!!!! Without any oversight. Who complaining about this ? Nobody.....Fuk the fish and ocean life...Humans more important .Comment

You are blaming the US for Fukushima? I mean really... First off Japan refused any assistance at first and is the entire world supposed to stop doing things because something bad happened somewhere?
Not saying I agree with attacking Lybia, but if we hadnt, what difference would it of made at Fukushima? In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.Comment

Great post. I thought I was the greenest person on GFY - nice to see I'm not alone.Isn't nuclear an old energy now? That said though, Nuclear can be safe. There are modern technologies for nuclear available now. Fukushima and others are 30 years old... some are close to 50 years old.
When it comes to electricity: We should all get our energy from Solar, wind, or hydro first. Then Nuclear. Coal and natural gas should be way down on the list.Comment

?Exxon are very systematic and meticulous, and that worked out very well for them at Sakhalin,? says Thane Gustafson of IHS Markit, the consultancy. ?Their relationship with Rosneft has on the whole been very good.?

Please tell me exactly how you get a 1000 MW per hour all night from a solar plant after dark, or continuous 24-7 power from wind? The best solar can do is hook up a giant system of storage tanks filled with hazardous molten chemicals to power a small steam plant for a few hours after sunset.Isn't nuclear an old energy now? If you look at societal impact, ALL electrical production has risks. Nuclear has it's radiation risk, solar panels use dangerous materials in their semiconductors, wind is noisy and endangers birds, hydro has dam failures, coal (even clean coal) is filthy and emits more radiation than a nuclear plant.Comment
