He is partly right. We started the slide in 1970 by giving the Third World trading terms that made them far cheaper than the West. Which started the decline in wages for some. How many production companies closed down because they could never compete with workers on $5 a day? How many scandals did we read about child labour making goods for famous name companies?
The promise was that the West would be making the hi-tech products of the future.
