We are doing fine without slaves. There are many countries welcoming refugees who will work for $3 per day. That is the closest to slave labor you will find in the western world.

I had a bad experience on ebay
- I bought 2 BDU belts shipped from China $7.95+$3.00 shipping
- canceled the order 20 seconds later and they refused to honor the cancellation
- I bought a 1 BDU Rothco belt made in the USA shipped from New York $10.49 shipped free
A BDU belt is a military belt -- this one has a plastic buckle -- you can leave it on in the airport security line -- it is non-metallic.
Point is the product is 1/2 the cost -- the difference made MAY be in the belts quality -- I am stuck with both orders. Maybe, the Chinese belts will make good luggage bands?
I really don't care where the belts are made; only the cost, quality and delivery convenience. Generally speaking USA made products are better quality and higher cost -- you get what you pay for SOMETIMES.
I remember the time I bought a cheap diagonal cutter plier from India (cheap) it was useless. I always buy Channellock pliers (still do) they are USA made and top quality -- worth the price and last forever (unless you lose them).
I bought a Woolrich tactical long sleeve cotton knit shirt -- top of the line brand but "Elite" -- made in China -- beautiful quality. This is not cheap Chinese shit like you find at Wally World.
You have to look at the big picture -- we are now a global market

Mexico vs. China: How two manufacturing hubs stack up

Interesting how the bls.gov website is down for maintenance -- the Trump administration is fixing it?

Not slave wages -- they are WORLD WAGES.Comment

The American way of life is fine. I love it when they say the middle class is in decline, while all of us have $1200 pocket computers.
I have a neighbor who is building a fucking airplane in his garage. His son owns a helicopter company here in town at the local airport so once it's ready they will tow it there and finish it. It's amazing.Herschel Savage

If everything was made in the USA, without slave labor... If houses were built by Americans instead of illegal immigrants... If your smart phone was built by Americans instead of $2/day slaves...
do you really think we could afford our way of living?Comment

You really are blinded to the millions who work precarious part-time jobs that don't pay a living wage with no benefits or job security.Comment

We make millions with cam performers -- most from low wage countries. They are happy and we are happy.
We employ technical and accounting people in Western Europe and some in Romania mainly customer support. Our people speak 2 or 3 languages for the most part.
I support local USA service outlets and pay 3X the price the value for goods I have to (or want to) buy domestically. I am going out to have my eyes examined and to have 2 pair of new prescription classes made -- if I spend less than $400 I will be surprised. These service and goods cost the seller about $170 -- welcome to AmeriKa. $280 - $300 would be a fair price ...
I was a licensed residential builder for 14 years. Crews of Mexicans and Eastern Europeans got a lot of the work because they bid less -- that is capitalism. They all carried the required insurance -- so their overhead was equal (more or less).
Protectionism and xenophobia is Trumpism -- you got sold a bag of shit tied with a pink ribbon -- sorry you are disappointed.Comment

Yes. And people working for "$2 a day" overseas are ligning up for the jobs at apple, or wherever. Macro economics.
It must really suck where you live to be so focused on America to the point you post hate for us online just move here and be happy instead of hating

Just like the police officer who lives across the street from me. Him and his wife came from Egypt. He is a highway patrol officer, and his wife is a doctor.
Just like my other neighbors right now, Brian Sr playing ball with his son Brian Jr. on the street. It's 10:30am right now, they are playing catch, and his wife is sitting on the grass watching. It's like a fucking slice of Americana right now.Herschel Savage
