Seriously people, downloadable videos are NOT the future. Streaming Streaming Streaming Streaming.

People are now accustom to instant entertainment. Why do you think tubesites are kicking our asses? Why do you think Youtube is so popular? Why do you think fast food places make billions a year? People don't want to download. I don't want to download some porn vid that I will only spank it to one time more than likely, and clutter up my hard drive. YES there are collectors, but they are now in the minority.

    WRITING ON WALL.

I wonder how 'real wives and girlfriend' sites would do with HD video. The people that view those sites enjoy real people flaws and all. They dislike the photoshopped perfection of high-end model sites. Maybe it would end up working for that niche best. Just throwing it out there, who knows. It'll be interesting to see how it evolves. It may never take off. I just know that technology keeps moving forward and we all tend to adopt the latest and greatest things available. If hardware and infrastructure make HD worth watching, I don't see why it would be any different.

Maybe porn shooters will innovate ways to lessen or hide flaws even in HD. I dunno.

Quality girls, plus time during preshoot. Proper makeup and hair done, attention to detail. Proper lighting. I've seen a ton of hot porn shot in HD.

All you people best catch up.

                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhKRhk49iqQ

Make sure to click the Watch in HD on the bottom right corner right under the video.

Downloading gigs of content pfft lol

Btw open that clip full screen, then try to tell me about can't stream HD pfft. We already were doing this months and months ago.
Just because its possible(barely), doesn't mean we're ready for it. Sometimes, I have to wait 3 minutes on YouTube just to see some crappy vid of someone getting kicked in the nuts, and I have a fast cable connection.

The bandwidth is not there yet for all of these streaming HD movies and content(Netflix, porn, etc).

It's not really about the storage aspect of it...you still have to download it when its streaming, regardless of whether or not it ends up as a copy on your hard drive. That requires bandwidth, which is still severely lacking because some tool in Alabama is downloading the Sandra Bullock collection in HD, and all of the other crap that is plugging up our internets.

I do agree with you that h264 is the shit....

Its not barely possible. If you are waiting for an sd video to play back, your connection isn't fast, or you had an issue that day. Im streaming 15 to 30 minute long videos with no buffering in 720p.

Seriously just goto http://www.hulu.com/hd I do 20, to 30,000 down on my connection. A large percentage of people ARE ready for HD, and within 3 years anyone that isn't will be in the minority.

Look into CDN combined with flash media server 3 h.264 via .mp4's that is what we use, you don't even download the full video. Starts instantaneously. Doesn't require to finish downloading the full video.

Sticky we can do pretty high resolution videos with very good performance today using H.264 and silverlight. Pretty soon there will not be LD and HD , HD will be a given.

I have enough surfers on my own ElliNude site who had trouble playing back h.264 due to codec and whatnot issues. To offer them true HD would be a waste for me and a tease for them. Nobody would come away happy. That's not saying there should be no HD sites anywhere. The HD-capable people will go to those sites and the "late adopters" will stick with the SD sites.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is still a market for SD content, and to ignore those people will make for some unhappy surfers.

Easy enough to offer both Elli. As far as codec issues, in a streaming format all they need to do is upgrade to the newest flash version. Takes them less than a minute to upgrade. If you are interested in how to do h.264 properly always glad to point you in the right direction.

Ok you think how you do lol. I look at the obvious tell tale signs that people will upgrade and not stay on win 95 and win 98 computers with 256 ram and 1.2ghz with a on board video card, if they can't view stuff that is entirely free to watch such as Hulu.com and Youtube in hd, and Vimeo, and a bunch of other things, they will upgrade. My 63 year old parents have computers plenty fast enough to watch youtube in HD lol I build my own too, but that really has nothing to do with what I said. For less than 400.00 plus tax someone can goto walmart and get a computer fast enough to view hd videos. So are you really catering to someone that can't afford a 399.00 computer? Since that works out to almost the same amount as a membership costs (33.25) per month, you might want to re-evaulate your targeted customer.

Btw "Netbooks typically cost $300 to $500" Now what was the price of that emachine?

Sure I know I want to go after webtv users, and win 3.1 users. Im not being arrogant, Im being realistic. Its like a Mercedes dealership going to a trailer park outside a ghost town and going door to door to try and sell a 70,000.00 car. Ya there might be some old guy that has a million in the bank living like a hermit and in poverty like conditions just waiting for someone to stop by and convince him to part with the money he has hidden away for years. Yes you might find a sale there. It could happen, but the smart salesman is buying drinks for the people down at the country club in the affluent area. Its common sense. Don't even know why Im arguing at this point. lol
