I have solar panels & batteries I charge here at home, never going back. It doesn't cover all my electric consumption but paid for itself already.

I would like to know more about the energy output and economics of a setup like this. This one reflects sunlight to a boiler to generate steam, turn generators and provide electricity. But regular electric panels convert sunlight to electricity directly. Are they somehow less efficient? If they could use the direct sunlight-to-electricity panels they would save all those birds.
