Physical format - Something to discuss

Vinyl record sales are at a 25 year high with more than 3.2m LPs were sold last year and that's a 53% increase over the year before. This is the ninth consecutive year that vinyl has grown, thanks to events such as record store day and the increase in shops selling vinyl. Supermarkets and both HMV and Rough Trade have created more floor space to sell more records.

I've been dealing in a lot of custom content, porn memorbilia and good old fashioned film for the aficionado. My sales are up 30% since last year and they're double since I started doing this 3 years ago. From my point of view the writting is on the wall and that's people are starting to want their smut in a physical format again.

I was wondering if the porn industry could use tube sites like the music industry is using streaming portals. Here's a snippit from an article about how music streaming portals fuel consumer demand for physical format. https://www.theguardian.com/music/20...rips-streaming

?It used to be music discovery was mainly limited to the radio, but now people are free to look and listen to all sorts of music, so people are hearing so much more new or different music than they were before. They are finding music through streaming and if they love it, they are going out and investing in it in a physical format.?

I've been following your posts on the topic cuz you're in a really interesting niche with the old school/nostalgia stuff

it's weird to me how some peeps tend to look at massive shifts as some sort of erasing/moving beyond what came before. it's never that, our ideas and the stuff we make is constantly reshaping, adding and refining, taking on the future and the past.

I def see a role for physical smut, especially if hi-tech adult gadgets become more popular.

not huge necessarily, but potentially a thriving portion of the industry. gadgets are physical objects and there's lots of room for really creative cross marketing

When it comes to smut the Internet is
      1. Saturated
      2. Over time it devaluates the product
      3. Impossible to protect the product from theft

I've learned over the years that Music and Porn share a mountain of simularities when it comes to consumer demands and habits. So my idea is to figure out how to use what's currently on the net as a marketing tool to sell physical goods. There's a lot of potential opportunity and growth in that direction.

haha, YES. it's crazy how much overlap there is in patterns. I'm more focused on the ones relevant to my specific work (which is and will prob always be intangible/digital) but there's so fucking many. so cool you seem em too.

I remember realizing one day not too long ago that the reason I thrived in my chosen adult work right from the start was that I understood what to focus on to reach peeps who'd want what I offer. I learned that from hip hop artists, 100%

vinyl is selling due to hipsters and audiophiles but with porn its basically limited to people who are collectors. people like to show off their record collection but you probably won't find many people wanting to show off their porn collection though.

Don't laugh because I sold a Super 8 of Brigitte Lahaie for 200 and that was before I realized that there's a demand for this stuff. I've got almost 50 years of smut in my garage and basement and there's a fair number of people that are willing to pay for it
