When Does Twitter Become Worth It?

    Hi Guys

How many followers do you think you need on Twitter before it becomes "worth it". I only have 1,418 followers, and I hardly ever make sales from Twitter (although I have made some). At what follower level do you believe it becomes "worth it".

    Thanks

It depends, I have a few small accounts as well but it is a micro niche so even when it is social media traffic it converts quite well.

Yeah I keep forgetting that really you should "go niche".

Too many people make the mistake of believing twitter is all about the follower numbers. Yes, having followers is a good thing but if theyre already following you then they know you exist and either, are already customers or arent interested in purchasing.

Good use of hashtags is the answer and ensuring you engage your audience, theres a good thread in the Education forum about how to use it properly...add a good automated system to it (theres a good thread in the Business Services forum on that too )

Im interested to know though, how do you know you 'hardly ever make sales from twitter'?

Do you think our site is a micro niche or just niche?

I can see the referrer url when I make a sale. A lot of the time I am posting a link direct from Twitter to Live Jasmin, so I will see the Twitter link as referrer. However, I am now starting to send traffic to my own site more, in the perhaps vain hope that people will remember my site name.

Numbers don't matter, quality of the member count matters. If you have related followers then you can make sales.

Completely agree - quality over quantity right? Worked with one client on their social media who were niche but we were able to get their conversions up through many micro sites leading to one niche site. Those who came through were super qualified and conversion was high.

There isn't a magic number of followers that convert - and it's one of the biggest mistakes is seeing social media just as a direct lead generator.

If you have some sales from only 1,418 followers double down on what is working.

                Experiment constantly.
