As WWC-Raffi & After Shock Media said embedded video or custom player. Watermark everything, when it's old to you it will still bring sales if someone ganks it.
Different idea but if the site is popular enough some warez fiend will burn it and have it on the torrent sites within 20 minutes of it hitting his mailbox.
A rotated "player" setup with the feed being embedded/streamed also watermarked and rotated content/pages via cms & scheduled updates could work. This way you can not have all the content on the site at the same time.

This does not sound like a bad idea. I read somewhere that someone suggested not having scenes available for download at all? Just stream everything?

Thus the second part of my plan goes into effect. Each cd the videos are secretly encoded to contain the username of the person who got it. The cd contains a disclaimer stating if the video is uploaded on the web licensing fee's will be charged to the credit card of whomever bought the membership
don't laugh the riaa makes millions suing college kids for doing the same thing with mp3's
If someone wants to steal it they will steal it no matter what, simple as that. But I am all for embedded players...
yes, I understand if they want to steal they will. Was looking at making it a lot more difficult for them, so maybe the rookie/newbie guys would move along.
Embedded players would piss surfers off imo. Surfers dont like drm as they want to download the movie and keep it. You might as well use drm.
I like of the idea of encoding their username and charging them the full cost of the video. They would charge back, then youd have to debt collect and pass the fees on to them.
Ive always had the idea to render all of y our offered video into flash - watermarked of course. BUt dosnt that eliminate people from taking and altering it. If in swf format they cant even take it...
I may be way off but thats my experience with said files...

That might work, but only until someone develops a universal FLV/SWF ripper. Probably not too far away from that happening (if it hasnt already)...
Just embed in flash. Even if the odd member works something out the rest wont.
Better than watermarked wmvs/avi's that can be saved by a two year old.
Since doing this (touch wood) the only stuff ive seen online in over a year was when the guy set his camcorder up to record the screen, which obviously had crappy results.
