the minimum wage is obsolete. AI looks poised to take out jobs paying far far higher than 15 bucks.

wall street bankers, truck drivers. soon the president will be nothing but an image on the screen...

$15/hr means nothing to automation plans. I'm sitting in a Mcdonalds right now in FL, where they pay workers $8 & some change per hour..

You know what they just installed? Order taking kiosks to cut out the need of cashiers. They are replacing $8/hr workers with kiosks..

It has nothing to do with the minimum wage rate and everything to do with advancing technology which allows them to cut workers out of the equation at any price.

No one told me anything.. I've seen automation as a job killer for years. It's been happening right in front of your eyes for years and $15/min wage has nothing to do with it..

Grocery Stores, walmart and all been pushing self check outs. Banks are pushing you to use ATM's over going to a teller.. a raise of min wage has nothing to do with this. It's been going on for 10+ years. Technology is just making it easier to do..

Automation has created a lot of high paying jobs in its design, manufacturing, digital programming as well as maintenance and repair.

                              This is called progress.

You mean they will get my order right and they won't ask me the same question 4 times within 30 seconds because they can't remember the past 5 seconds?

Yesterday I went to McDonald's for the first time in 2 years to try their new Big Mac Grand.

So I ordered the Big Mac Grand, a strawberry creme pie & medium fries. $11 the medium fries alone were $2.69. The meat in the "burger" was about 1/8 inch thick. Tasted like shit. Oh and I had to pull over in the drive through and wait 5 minutes for my order

There's a reason Smashburger & Fatburger franchises are exploding nationwide, they have thick burgers that taste like burgers at a lower price, and they won't be automating anything ;)

Except a handful of jobs replace tens of thousands.. Progress is not always good for everyone but, progress can't be avoided if we don't want to regress.

All those jobs can be done overseas, except for maintenance and repair.

One thing to remember, not everyone is smart. Most people aren't driven, or talented or creative. These types of people will continue to be born and need employment to survive.

Look at what bullshit coal miners are puting people through. They don't adapt to find other work and work the system while they bitch and moan about no cushy coal mining jobs and voting Trump.

Just because we can do something doesn't mean we should.

So you are saying that increasing 8 to 15 would not make automation move at a faster pace?
Nobody is claiming that there won't be any automation at 8 and only at 15...
They are claiming that it would quicken the process.
