Long Video Clips for Promo ? Good or Bad ???

I have had a couple affiliates request "longer" video clips for promo... they want 5 minute long videos for promo, I am guessing this ties in with the whole "tube" mentality...

Do people think this is a good or bad thing ? I do have my own opinions, but would like to hear other peoples opinions

Anything more than 2 or 3 minutes is foolish. We want people to have a reason to sign up and why would they have to sign up if they have all they need?

Full length are best, 15-20 minute scenes. I mean I see it all over the tube sites and they must be making crazy bank. Make sure you make atleast 5000 of these available to the surfers in all different niches.

Long clips attract alot of traffic, but conversions are shit. Many program owners seem to be desperate for any traffic they can get, but it makes your content become oversaturated fast, hurting all other affiliates and your program as a whole.

I remember back when anything over 7 secs was retarded.. but than we started doing 15 secs.. and than 20 secs.. 30 sec.. 1 mins.. 2-3mins.. 5mins.. and now 147mins

it don't end.

Yeah it seems pretty crazy to me... if I was a surfer and I could watch 5 minute videos all day long why would I join a site... I am not a fan of these tube sites as a program owner... but hey I guess they are here to stay...

I think to give out 5 min clips devalues the product...

the majority or member area videos are only about 10-15 minutes long so if you have a 5 minute sample of that clip it's 1/2 or 1/3 of the video!

would you go see a movie at the theater if the trailer clip was 45 minutes long and showed the ending?

so if a hollywood movie trailer is 2 minutes long for a 2 hour feature, why are porn people making 5 minute trailers for 15 minute features? do we know something hollywood doesn't?

or, are most people in porn uneducated morons that don't know how marketing works? monkey see, monkey do

it's like a restaurant offering all you can eat tender-loin hoping the customer will buy desert!

I agree that it really doesnt make sense... there does seem to be a bunch of people who are pushing this new idea, I guess they are the people running tube sites

I know some people who have rules about how their content is used, some sites dont even give away topless content based on if the surfer wants to see it then they have to join...

Anyways thanks for everyone's input... I have decided we wont be doing it... at some later stage we may get some special videos done up that are longer in duration, but dont give a lot away... I guess then we can put it to the test as to whether they convert better as some would have us believe

someone said earlier "it depends what's in the 5 minute video". that's so true. if you cut up a bunch of scenes from different videos and made a longer teaser then that would be ok. follow what hollywood does and make the samples short, fast changing and exciting, leaving the viewer wanting to see more.

no one will ever know how much is enough and how much is too much because some guys can jerk off to the graphic images on a paysite tour while others need a video. i think a 2-3 minute clip showing lots of action is enough for almost anyone to jerk-off to.
